I'm considering running a pingel fuel valve along with a Pingel 1-in-4-out fuel filter. Has anyone had any experience with this muti-outlet fuel filter on a ZL? I'm wondering if any potential for fuel flow restriction through a filter might be avoided by distributing fuel to a "dedicated" fuel line right at the filter and not further down stream, via a tee connection.

Any thoughts on that money consuming idea?

I considered the same with the dual outlet petcock. Seem like it would be easier to do by installing tees where the existing 1-2 and 3-4 tubes are.

I clearly understand your point regarding ease of installation with the dualie outlet set-up off the Pingel valve. However, my goal is to eliminate "potential" restrictions resulting from angular connections, as occurs with tee configurations. Truth be told....any angle restrictions are probably insignificant at the tees. However, I'm just contemplating how to squeeze as much efficiency as is possible from a filtered fuel flow path and..... I'm probably over-thinking the solution....Ha ha ha.

If the 4-out filter were mounted horizontally, and the body is not full of fuel, the outlet(s) on the top half may not have flow. Mounted vertically, this would not be a problem, but don't know if this is possible.

I have the one on the right in this pic, from AutoZone, 5/16" in and out, have had no problems. It's mounted horizontally above the carb rack.

Well kawboy...you make a good point there with the positioning issue; for sure there's no disputing that one. Good call! I'll poke around and determine space availability before committing to any kind of purchase. Thanks

I recently installed the Pingel petcock and filter on my 1000, before I connected the fuel line I purged it into a small bottle to avoid having air in the line. I couldn't believe the amount of fuel which passed through the line! The bike runs great with the single line and I don't think there would ever be a starvation issue. The only thing I would be concerned with is putting more fuel connections under the seat and tank than neccesary. Pingel is right, they do pass more gas...:laughing7:

That is the exact filter I had on the zl1000 before I installed the pingel petcock. Now i'm running no filter.
 
After returning home from mid-ohio in July of 08, I cleaned the tank on my 900 with evaporust and installed a pingel tap...no filter...The carbs have not been off the bike since then and I have no issues...I am however going to pull them in the spring and clean and re-sync them just as a maintenence thing...The screen of the pingel in my opinion is finer than the filters that you can put in-line...No connections, no fittings. Just one line from the tap to the carb T....good to go...

I've used the Pingel petcock with and without an inline filter. Both setups were run at the dragstrip, I had no starvation issues either way and so far (knock on wood) I've not had any carb related problems. Later.
 
Well...all these responses seem to have covered both ends of the spectrum...with & without filtering. I believe I have a good handle on the solution now!

Thanks to everyone for pitching in with their first-hand experiences and opinions on the subject.
