Don't be afraid to at least consider doing the forks yourself

I took two sets of V65 forks to two different places. One (Honda)was $120.00 off the bike and the other (Independant shop) was $120.00 on the bike. Since then I've done two sets myself for about $60.00 in seals and oil each. I was a little intimidated by them but once you get them apart it is pretty clear how they work. If I can do it, anyone can!
I'm assuming Kawasaki forks are the same basic principles here, I could be wrong. I would never take another set to a dealer, takes maybe 2 or three hours off and on. If you can get them off the bike, you can do the seals. If you are taking the whole bike to the shop, well, maybe not. But I agree with lowlife, think about doing them yourself.
I just got back from the Honda dealer, I couldn't get the bottom hex bolt out on a set of 500 Shadow forks. I tried compressing and an impact. The mechanic had them loose in about 5 minutes or less. He said they were about as stubborn as he had seen, but I didn't ask exactly what he did. I think more reserve on the air pressure, you have to hit them hard and fast if they don't come loose right away

I bought seals for less than $30 with the dust seals! Too much to have a shop install would be more than part cost plus 1 hour of labor!
Did you strip a part on a carb? Break a float leg? Not sure how many bikes Kaw used the carbs on. Need to check on Kaw's website to see. Someone here may have a parts rack!
