Gas cap +???

I have an ugly ZL1000 that needs all kinds of cosmetic and engine work. I may have a mechanic lined up, but first and foremost I need a gas cap. Does anyone have one for sale or happen to know if a 900 cap will fit? We were opening it with a screwdriver for too long and after coming back from the last shop I could barely get it off. Now I can't put it back on or it may be on forever. Any suggestions? Can it be fixed?

You may be lucky - depends on how much damage has been done to the mechanism?
Kawasaki do sell the internal mechanism for the locks - you will need to see the parts diagram from
www.kawasaki.com (http://www.kawasaki.com)
to find part nos. then order from your stealer or other after market supplier.
It will of course mean taking the cap aprt - make sure you keep things together and make a note
(or take a picture) of how things go back together.
