I dont see any pics of the mod for the tank...Seems like someone posted pics...If I remember, the front of the seat was modded and there was almost like a hook made to hook in the front of the seat because the hinge was removed...
Lumi has no pics on the site that I can find..

i'll be honest ! i have'nt seen pics. of the tank mod. ! i do however remember Jarney posting a pic. of a zl900 w/ 1k tank on it from europe, but i dont think it's the mod. you are looking for, because instead of modifying seat, this guy cut down the back of tank ! sorry i can't be of much help on this one Willy ! i've been trying to find a thread, or even a pic. for you to help out, but no luck !!! I remember someone had some pics posted (night have been a link from another sight...maybe a uk eli club?)...In the pic was a 900 with a 1000 tank on it...The pics showed the underside of the front of the modded seat..The hinge is removed and a bracket was made, that hooked under the frame cross brace to hold the front of the seat in place...I think the seat hooked into a cross piece that was welded to the frame with a threaded hole that lined up with the rear tank mount tab on the 1000 tank..I commented in that thread, but I looked quicly through my posts and don't see it...
Willy
Yep i did post them pics,
tryed to find them again but sinds our dutch forum ;
Eliminator Club Nederland, has chanched ,i can find the posts in the archives , but no pictures anymore....:sad2:,
i'll try and ask the guy to pm me some of this wanted evidence.
i think it was more about the saddle mod.then about the tank.
Later Edd,

From what I understand, the front two mounts line up...The rear mount on the 900 runs perpendicular to the ground and it bolts in....On the 1000 tank, the tab is parallel to the ground and the bolt comes in from the top. The 1000 seat kinda overlaps the 1000 tank and it is not hinged like the 900...I believe you can detach the front of the 900 seat cover and chop it back untill if will nest behind the tank..With the new cross tube welded in the correct spot to line up with the tab, you can fab a bracket that will hook under and around the new piece of tube, then the back of the seat will go in the latch like it always did...
It looked fairly simple to mod...I mainly was just gonna kinda get my mouth watering looking at the tank sitting on there in the pics...
I am not sure what I am gonna do with the sides of the tank where the emblems are..The tank I am getting does not have the emblems I don't think...I could have body work done and smooth all that out and put OEM decals from a 900 tank on it...or I can try to locate some 1000 "Kawasaki" emblems and put em on...Not sure yet...
Thanks
Bill
Don't know if any welding was done here,
think the hook hangs on a piece of tube thats allready there?
yep, its the tube where is also the

You are going to need bodywork to smooth out the rash and dent anyways, I would think that 900 OEM decals would look good on it. Gives it less of a slapped on look, like you just took a 1000 tank and tossed in on your bike. Just my two cents worth though.

Sorry Willy,
All I have is pics of the tank mod - none of the seat mod. Later.

Yeah...I kinda like the idea of the 900 decals on the tank...I don't think the tank I am getting has rash or a dent...The one that I was gonna bid on for ebay was not the tank I bought...I will see once I get it...

Hey Willy, we just met with Zrex (member on this site) who has put a 1000 tank on his bike and modded his seat - I believe he said he just used velcro to secure it to the frame for the front half. Might send him a message. Here is a pic of his bike. Later.

Thanks....I am leaving in a couple hours to go to Florida for the week...I have a used ZL1000 tank coming and a pair of stock ZL9 mufflers I got from a guy on craigslist....When I get back into town, I can do some checking into it...
Thanks
Willy
yes they where my pictures:hello2:
i havenīt been here a while, been bysy with my car projects
but here they are only few minutes old pictures
and it needs welding to get the tank to good location
i made it so that i dont have to weld the frame, so i can put it back to original if needed
