The flood run started as a "run" in 1965 when a bunch of motorcycle enthusiasts went to help sandbag along the Mississippi during the spring thaw. Since that time it has grown to a spring flood run and a fall run. The shots I took are from only 2 different towns, though virtually every every town bordering the Mississippi on the Mn and Wis side have the same volume of traffic. The roads along the river are twisty and for the most part in excellent condition. The first few shots are from the town of Wabasha Mn which is the Home of the National Bald Eagle conservatory. They always have classes and Injured Eagles to look at. These animals are amazing and have a wing sread of sometimes over 6 feet. They are truely majestic creatures and I understand why our forefathers picked them as the National symbol of freedom. (I will not sully this article by commenting on our current political climate.)
THe other shots taken are form teh Wisconsin side. Some from the little town of Nelson Wi and Alma Wi. Each with a population of ...what....2-300 people maybe.
One is of the lock and dam along the Miss. One is a long distance shot of Cree and my bikes. It was only Cree and I as Chris had to work. I usually ride with a large group but since Cree is becoming more competant on he bike I chose to ride with her as whe finally had the confidence to ride comfortably. (and quite well too I might add). This was a wise decision because these are the important things in life. Riding with your kids is something very few parents get to do....and she actually doesn't mind hanging out with her old man. That was teh highlight of my day...sitting and talking thought we do it alot just not under these circumstances doing something we both enjoy. Next time I will take more pics and better pics. We passed some very nice places to take pics....sometimes I just don't want to get off the bike.
Oh yeah....I did see a black ZL9 as well. He was riding so I didn't get a chance to flag him down or talk to him. If it was any of you clowns and you didn't tell me....shame on you!!!. Its a rare sight to see another ZL 9 or 10 up here as a matter of fact I have never seen one on the road before (cheap shot at MOAB). Guess I can't brag to everyone that "Hey...betcha won't see one of these...but I might see a bike from "Willie's flock"". Jay
