Just wondering if the duck bill is supposed to be a paint finish like the tank, or is it supposed to be sort of a roughed up textured finish?

Mine is shiny but I see quite a few that seem to be sort of dull looking. I thought maybe that was sun damage or something but I wasn't sure. I just stumbled across this one on Ebay, not on for a week. It looks dull, but the rest of the bike looks immaculate. I apologize if it was posted somewhere else. I wish it was closer to me, I would have been on it for $3K. It looks pretty nice to me.

My son has the ZL for the summer, I am strongly contemplating selling one of the V65's and getting another ZL. I hate to sell bikes, I would like to keep them all but how many can you ride at once?

zlmark had pointed out to us, during marcus's engine swap, that the textured finish is sprayed on. the 85's had the texured finish, & the 86's did not.

The one in your link appears stock for a 85 900. It should be a sort of textured black plastic that fades over time in the sun. I think the 86 900 duck bills came painted. And some of us 85'ers have painted ours - just for looks. Later.

Ok, thank for the clarification. My 86 is a clearcoated paint, like the tank. So, it sounds like that is correct. I think I like that better, so I can understand why some would repaint like that on the 85's,

Learned something today! Cool
