D&D , 4*timming advance, k&N pods 135 main jet. mixture screw 2 3/4 and I am at sea level. Forgot to mention floats set at 17mm and 3 shims in the needle. ZL900 pulls hard all the way, but if I let off and try to cruise at 5000 rpm sputters,if I crack it open takes off with no hesitation.the problem is I am not sure if its lean or rich and how to tell the difference.I am trying to get the motor to run smooth at cruising speeds. any help would be great thanks.

I would pull a spark plug and look at it. There are charts with pics put out by some of the spark plug makers.

If it runs better then you are lean
