I have my zl1000 horn and cover at the shop and have been told the best way to make copies of the cover is aluminum. I don't know about you but I think I really don't need another aluminum peice to polish! I want to find someone to make exact replicas. I haven't had any luck so if anyone knows anybody please speak up! This is gonna be a group effort to make this happen!

I'm also trying to find info for the original manufacturer(Nikko) of the horns and try that route.

HELP ME!

Aluminum can be chromed.

Mine have no covers, and I'm not really worried about it. If some were available for a good price, I'd consider getting some, I guess.

Having the chrome horn cover would be nice but is not a priority for me and certainly not worth the crazzy money the have sold for on e-bay.

If none turn up at a fair price soon I will be buyin chrome aftermarket horns to replace my stock coverless ones.

Those are no where close to being like the 1000 horn covers. may work on the 900 though

Extreem - That first one is very cool looking for the 900.

As for the 1000 horns, since my 1000 is no where near stock looking, it's not much of a priority for me either, with the way mine is set up, I kind of like the black, blended in look of them, the covers would have to be very cheap for me to have an interest at this point. I always thought the way the horn covers were shaped that they had kind of an old look to them too, making the bike look older. If I had a more stock appearing bike I would be interested. I'm not sure I would be crazy about aluminum either - more weight, then would have to be polished, chromed, powder coated - would wind up being expensive either way it seems. Just my 2 cents though.

Later.

sorry, keep forgetting the horns are different.

if you have one of the covers you might be able to get someone to make a mold of it. i know its not cheap though.

personally, i would find a replacement that i liked and were not too expensive.

hang onto the stock ones and wait for them to show up for sale.

Fixed it Mike, but it will leave your name on what you originally chose

I drive for an aluminum extruding company. If you want to make about 10 billion of them, I could probably get you a deal. I chromed the V65 air cleaner covers, they are some kind of cheap aluminum pot metal that shined up like mud. They look good chrome, and seem to be holding up well.

Those look nice. If they use a nikko horn chances are they might fit. Price is right too. :winkcool:

A little research and I found it is areal close match and it's a nikko but the mounting plate that accepts the stock zl chrome cover is shaped to fit the zl cover making both sides look identical. I really think it's the best alternative yet though. You would have to use stock roadstar horns and then buy covers. Here some pics.

I would like any or all of the above, one of my chrome cover vibrated off during my last long ride and did not realize until to late. Would like anything chrome or aluminum to replace. May go with something aftermarket until something better shows up. Count me in on the order or replacement parts.
