I have two here and they are not the same.
one has a rounded cap on the foot that pushes against the guide the other has a round flat foot.
anybody know what the story is with this?

anybody know what the story is with this? The flat one is the newest style used on the newer zg1000's(yr 2000 for sure) and takes a different rear guide.

Hard to tell. should be req'd since the ends are different. I haven't seen the 2 new guides together to compare, old ones are always shot

^ Too true there, my rear guide was mushroomed like crazy. Go with the Connie and getthe new rear guide, I got the top guide at the same time, front guide gets very little wear.

Here are some pics from when I did mine. I think the difference in the zl and connie guide is the shape of the piece that the tensioner pushes on. I drew lines in the first pic to show the angles. I think the zl guide is more of a square or rectangle and the connie guide is more of a circle. I know the guides aren't lined up perfect and the zl guide is pretty worn but look at the second pic too. The connie guide is on the left and the other 2 are zl's. The one in the middle isn't worn that bad and appears to be more like a square or rectangle. The third pic you can see the difference in the tensioners - the top one is the connie. Just a thought on what the difference might be between the two. Hope this helps. Later.

The Conc tensioner is soooo much better and easier to use.

HOLY **** that zl guide is trashed! Did that come out of the race motors?

Yep. The ones I pulled out of the drag bikes were toast. The one in the middle of the second pic that is not badly worn came out of my 85 900 - not one of the drag bikes. Later.
