Just got home....was pretty awesome day....We went early only to run into rain as soon as we got to our seats....5 hours later the races started...Saw some good times put up....Saw someone blow the body right off of a fuel funny...Couple motors blown, flames, etc....

Fastest run was 319 mph...fuel dragster (antron brown...ran a 3.835@ 319 mph)

Got a few pics, may post tomorrow

I believe all the fuel cars are at 1,000 ft....

not a ton of good pics....The daylight shots are fuel cars....the night shots are alcohol...By the time they ran alcohol the stands were 3/4 empty...I tell you what...I thought the alcohol funnys and dragsters were very exciting to watch....Fuel cars do not launch, they pretty much hammer from an idle but all the alcohol funny's launched...They would get up and light the pre stage light and then get close to launch rpm and then when both cars were fully staged they ramped up a little more. Then on take off they just hammered...They were getting some impressive speeds and ET's as well....The last two years we went, we headed to the pit area after top fuel ran...We missed alot of the pro-mod and alcohol stuff...I dig the pro-mod stuff and really dug the alcohol stuff....Prostock cars I can do without....The bikes of course were cool except kawasaki was not represented very well....Most of the bikes were harley or suzuki....

They only ran one round of fuel cars yesterday (normally there is two rounds on sunday)....we arrived early to hope to see the end of sportsman classes, but it rained....So after the rain delay they ran prostock bike, prostock cars, fuel funny, fuel dragster and then super comp and then alcohol...after alcohol they were gonna run more super comp but we left....

The first picture is a straight out view from our seats...You can see the tree is almost dead in front of us....

They are alot of fun to watch! My favorites are the blown pro mods, seen a nice black mid 60's vette pro mod out at norwalk about 10 years ago, he would do a John Force style burnout every run that would rattle the stands.
I will be going to the AMA Prostar dragbike series this year in Oct at Norwalk, hope some of you guys can make it

Sure wanted to be at the U.S. Nationals this year but wasn't going to contend with the weather. I've got it on the tube now for the day!! Just saw Antwan Brown go down!

Same here.We planned on going over Saturday morning, but woke up to rain, and did not want to chance it.If you have never been you should really attend a event. You just can't explain what those fuel cars sound like. You can feel it as much as you can hear it.I like to watch them run at night if possible, they shoot flames 15ft in the air.As cool as the fuel cars are,I really like watching the super stocks.Mostly cause of the wheel stands, but they are more like normal cars.
I don't think there has been a competitive pro-stock Kawasaki for quite a few yrs.If I remember rite,it was from lack of factory support.Harley,Buell, and S&S,pour millions into their pro-stock bikes.I also think Vance&Hines builds a lot of the Suzuki(as well as their v-rods).Star Racing used to do several too.I think the economy has hurt all the NHRA stuff pretty hard.
The best part is how up close you can get to the drivers, and the pits. You can stand 5ft from somebody warming up a fuel car(if you can stand the fumes). It is very cool to watch them tearing down, and rebuilding between rounds.Another unknown area to see is the tech tent.Any time a record,or class win, they tear down to inspect the car.You can walk through and watch this happening.
I'm a big drag race fan if you can't tell.:rotf:
