Engine Knee guards

Hey anyone know why i have chrome knee guards for my 85 900? Every bike i see has black ones whats up with that?

The only reason I can think of is that the previous owner had them chromed. :wink: great place Mark.

Will likely get mine chromed as well but the rush now is just to get the girl back together and worry about her cosmetics later. Have had some chrome work done but want much more. Keeping pics of everything along with prices for bits and stuff.

Not sure. My red bike came with chrome guards. Maybe they put out a chrome option in the parts catalog at the dealerships?

Chrome knee guards were never put out by Momma Kaw but certainly should've been IMHO. That's one of the mods on these ZL9's that I've always embraced and loved the looks of. They sit in a very prominent place and the black background of the engine really make a chrome set stand out beautifully!! They also look awesome on a black ZL9 too....one very nice mod and one I feel the factory should've done in 1985.

Yeah, it flows really nice with the side covers and polished aluminum parts on the Zl 9.

The guy on German E-bay has a set for 350.00 Euros... They've been for sale for about 2years! He does have a lot of chrome pieces for sale, I think he is called Rock n' Roll Motorad.

They were special order and listed in the dealer Kawasaki Accessories catalog.
Also listed were,backrests,racks and chrome or black case gaurds.
