Yeh, I used to cringe when I first saw him on the tube. Once I got around his loudness I grew to enjoy his zeal for life, the guy was unstoppable. While I partly agree with Germaine Greer, ie he did encrouch on (all) animals "space" and to them he was no doubt a pest, he did so much good on their behalf. A little discomfort for a few animals was a small price to pay for the general boost in our love of animals, worldwide. Germaine, have you still got your Aussie passport? If so tear it up, please!!
And now we Aussies have lost another legend, Peter Brock. Three time touring car champion and nine times Bathurst winner.

You know, I'm not often what's reffered to as a "touchy feely" type, but I feel like I've just gotta say this.
Your average person who dies of an unusual accident is mostly unheardof to the rest of the world, their families mourn and move on and that's the end of it.
How many people can say that they like their job? Not "I can deal with it" or "I'm okay with it", but rather "I like my job". Probably less than half. And how many people can truly say that they love their job? Not many at all. Having worked in the entertainment industry for some time, I can tell you that it's not always what it appears to be. It is hard work, and the crowds and the media can be a pain in the ass to celebrities. But getting to do what you love to do and getting paid for it is something that few people will ever know. Having others admire you for doing what you do, that's something very special indeed.
So, whether it be a race car driver who amazes and thrills the crowd and becomes a role model for young boys and a few girls, or an exuberant young man who entertains and amuses us while educating us as well as our children all at the same time in the ways of the wild, let us not be sad for their passing. Instead, let us remember all the good times that they brought to our lives. And let us not forget that they left this world doing something that they loved to do, which was also how they made their living. They should an inspiration to us all to enrichen our own lives, while touching someone else in the process.
In short, remember the good times, it's what they would have wanted.

SS,
well said mate. When people at work ask on a Friday "how ya goin'?" I say "only three sleeps 'til Monday" and you should see the sour faces, if looks could kill...
Yeh, me thinks some people really are in the wrong job.
Guys,
if you want to know how well respected Peter Brock was down under keep an eye out for the Bathurst 1000 at Mt Panorama on 5-8 October.
