Can you paint the aluminum parts on the Eli, like the footpeg brackets and such, or do they need to be powdercoated?
The wheels as well...
I don't have ANY idea and I am trying to get my Eli done on the cheap as much as I can, I have a friend that will hook me up with paint cheap, but he doesn't do powdercoating.
Any suggestions?

I would prep them just as you would any other metal to be painted but i would use epoxy primer such as ppg's dp series. that **** will stick to anything and anything will stick to it

Something I seen that was bad ass at the bike expo last winter, it's called black chrome. They chrome the wheels then use a tinted clear powdercoat over top.

Thanx Mark!
And that BlackChrome does sound cool, gonna see if I can look it up!
Oh man, my wife is gonna kill me!

You're looking for a primer that contains either zinc chromate or zinc phosphate. Mark's suggestion about the PPG line is right on. It sticks great. Almost all the manufacturers have a product rated for aluminum, just check the specs. Powdercoating works well also, but it can be a bitch to color match. Good luck with it!

Realizing that you have a problem and being strong enough to admit it openly is the first step towards recovery Moab. I think we've made a lot of progress here. We should talk again. How's tomorrow?

I don't know...I have my 'How to be a bad neighbor' classes in the am, and in the afternoon, I have to steal my neighbor's newspaper, then get in a fight with said neighbor, I just hope I don't get my ass kicked like last time...She's tough for 82, but she just got her other hip replaced, and what with the cataracts and all, I might be able to get in a shot or two before she can react...Pray for me...How's Thursday for you, assuming she doesn't break my fingers again...
