Hey all,
anyone out there using Internet Explorer 7 yet? Mine just updated to it. I know, there's better browsers out there, but I was wondering how you get rid of all the History junk that's all over this thing. Or how you get rid of the top search bar and what the heck is this Live search crap? Probably should post this in some sort of tech forum huh? Just thought I check here first. Anybody got any ideas? Later.

I have been using it since it was in beta, nice browser. To change the default search provider go to internet options , under the general tab select settings under search, then at the bottom of the change search defaults dialog box click on find more providers link at the bottom left. From there you can click on the list web search or topic search and it will prompt you to add that provider. At the add provider dialog box you can check the checkbox to make your selection the default.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the ideas but what I'm really trying to do is get rid of the search bars and history button all together - as in off the screen - like you could in the old explorer. You could "hide" or "customize" the buttons and bars as you needed to. I don't use the search bars so they are just in the way taking up space at the top of my screen. I don't have any desire to change the default providers or anything like that. As for getting rid of the history, temp files, etc. - I have other programs like ccleaner that take care of that. I've noticed that even if you click on "delete" for the history, if you go up to the top search bar and click on the arrow, the history is still there. I like the new browser for the most part, but they have made it way too easy to look at the history info and it seems that it does not do a good enough job of getting rid of it. Plus, it's not able to be customized the way the others were. Thanks for the info though.

Sytem properties\advanced tab\performance settings button. custom radio button. Uncheck everything except the last 3. Or select best performance and lose the xp look altogether. While the dialog performance options is still open select advanced tab click on change under virtual memory. Highlight your c: drive if thats the one containing your paging file and set the initial size to whatever your max is set at. This way windows does not have to adjust the page file. Theres more gotta go to work :cool10:
