Does anyone know what you can use for lower shocks on the rear of the 900 Eliminator, I want to lower mine, but cannot afford the Progressive shocks for mine, so what can be used in the place of the stockers, I would like to lower the back 1-2 inches, I have heard the Vulcan shocks will work, but I do not know for sure....Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks,

You can probably run other makes if you get an install kit from Progressive to compensate for the difference in the eye diameter. I was looking at shocks from a VTX, they were about 12" long but I'm not sure of the eye diameter. They always ended up more than I was willing to spend. You might call Progressive and see if they will sell an install kit. That will open up your options a bit.
I ended up scoring on a new set of 12 series Progressives from eBay, 11.5" long with the stiffer springs for about $60. Really made a difference in how it looks. I haven't had a chance to really push in the corners yet but in general, ride quality is better.

One of the first things I did when I got my ZL900 was to replace the shocks. The rear shocks were sagging like anything, I was bottoming out the rear on bumps. I replaced them with some Hagon rear shocks and progressive front fork springs. Suspension is much stiffer now and the handling has been improved by the progressives on the front. I'll post some pictures of mine soon.

Don't know what you call too expensive but I put 11.5" Progressive 420's on the rear of my ZL1000, cost was under $200 with shipping ride improvement was amazing and seat height dropped by 1.5"

I'm thinking of vulcan shocks too. Retaining the stock appearance and lowering the bike and restoring the ride quality all in one shot sounds too good to be true. Now to figure out the part# or ideal donor vulcan.
