Seeing as the numbers run out at 40-50 .. I went for "a lot older than I act".

Chronologically I'm 51 .. but I definitely don't feel it, (marvellous what heart bypass surgery can do for ya!! :D ) .. and I'm told by many that I don't act my age .. :cool10: :rotf:

Cheers ...

kind of wondering if most of the people are ones that seen the ZL when it frist came out .
But thank you , SnakeDoctor

Would have been hard for me to have seen a ZL when they first came out, seeing as I was only born in August 1985.

I was riding a LTD 550 back then and looking at the ZL

Me too ! exactly that.
At the time, I worried a bit about moving up from a 550 to a 900.
I must have looked at it a dozen times on the showroom floor before deciding.
And it was awesome - awesome - and more awesome once I rode it home!

Remembering the girl I was with....the music scene...$10 whole dollars an hour. How am I still alive?

I am 42 *UGH!* and in 86 I had sold my 73 Suzuki Titan 500 and 49 Harley pan head and bought my first Kawasaki road bike from a major on my AF base it was a 1982 KZ750 Spectre and I fell in love with the Kawi inline 4's! And in 87 I was still stationed out in the mojave desert and the local Kaw shop I patronized got in a new 87 ZL1000 and I drooled and pinned for that bike as at the time I couldnt afford it and 2 months later was sent to Korea!

I have the brain of a 20 year old and the body of a 40 year old. There both in the trunk of my car if you ever want to see them! But I'm really 50 myself. Owned ( and still own) a boatload of bikes and still love to ride.

Will be 52 in a couple of months and I certainly don't act this old! I've always ridden these ZL's to resemble a bat out of HELL and still do. Back in 1985, I owned a '75 Z1900 that groomed me for the ZL. Went into the dealership one day just to "look" at the new models but would not walk outta' there without that gorgeous red ZL.....gave $3452.50 in cash, out the door!!!! No bike has ever done it for me like the ZL has........then and now!! Mark

jmassengill

I'm 46 for the time being and I didn't even ride motorcycles until I was 42. I was thinking the other day that in 1986 when my ZL600 was new, I was stationed in Fairbanks AK, in the Air Force and I was all of 23 or so and I wouldn't have purchased a new motorcycle then for two reasons...1: I WAS BROKE and 2: My first wife wasn't crazy about motorcycles and living in AK when the riding season was only 3 months long, it just wasn't a good thing to try and buy a motorcycle in AK.

I also get the feeling that if I had had the ZL600 at that time in my life I might have wound up dead with such a quick bike.

I sometimes wish my ZL600 looked a bit better but I'm very happy how it rides and that I had a large hand in raising it from the dead.

Old. I'm one of the guys that fart dust.

I bought my first ZL1K when they came out in '87. I destroyed that one. You know, same old story. High speed, guard rail, hospital, 1 yr probation.:nono:

I told the dealer I wanted another. Red like the first. It took him a while to locate one, but he did and I still have it.

I was 1 of only 2 guys that owned one in Peoria, Ill at the time.

As my gf use to say; "Age is just some numbers on a peace of paper". It tells you nothing of how old you feel or how young you behave.

I am between 40 and 50 myself but behave rather different. (Younger... ;-)

"Males developes until the age of thirteen, then they just grows / get bigger" ;-)
