No thunder lost over here Andy. Wherever we get to ride doesnt matter to me... As long as we get to meet is what counts!!!
If Ireland doesnt happen then I'm going to do this one instead if the funds allow... The prospect of warmer weather in the summer does sound appealing..... lol.
Sounds Very good!!!

I like that idea Blag. And that would be one hell of a photo, one of us riding close behind Andy on his trike. Petrol cap open and getting petrol out of the big tank on the back of the trike.
I like the look of the Rocket as a trike, have you seen the one on eBay UK with the 3 exhausts that come out where the back wheel should be? They look good.

Re: accomodation, it might be an idea to seek out a biker forum with a lot of scottish bikers in it? They could recommend somewhere to stay?
I did this when I was looking for suggestions over here... I pm'd a few guys in the Irish biker forum and they came back with a bunch of roads to ride and recommended a few biker friendly hotels to stay at.
Anyone know of a scottish biker club?
Kawasaki-krazy

OK .....I found the aberdeen cruiser club but it looks as if they are mainly hardleys with lots of leather and studs (that's metal studs by the way)
http://www.aberdeencruiserclub.co.uk/
I've only lived in Bonny Scotland for a couple of years so I may contact these guys and see if we can maybe get a guided tour to some of the hot spots to visit.
Meeting place is only a few miles from me so I might pop along and see what they're aboot

8th-11th sounds good to me. I've now got a dilemma though, my shift that week is 5th-8th, so do I want to just book off the 7th and 8th, make my way up to Andy's on the 7th and both go up to Scotland on the 8th. Or do I book off all 4 days and have time off from the 24th July (already got the last week of July booked off for my first airbrushing course.
Hmm, what to do, what to do....
Any more news on this guys?
I've just got myself a tomtom rider, so I'll be able to find my way up there. But mainly so that I can put in the route I want to take and it will tell me where the petrol stations are along the way, including distances. I can then set them as waypoints so that I can plan the journey with a fill-up every 80 or so miles.

Thanks mate. Its nothing serious but, you know when you think things are finally on the up and you're finally able to put a few pennys away... Some fkin thing has to crop up and consume your dosh (and some)... typical...
Apart from that, the "honey do" list is growing faster than I can keep up with.....
I need a job with X 2 times salary and only have to work a 16 hour week...!
I still hope to get on top of it all by mid summer but I have to be a bit realistic too...

Right guys. Sorry I've been away so long. You wouldn't believe the hassle I've had with Tiscali, trying to get my internet back. Anyway, turns out I've no broadband where I'm living now. Only dial-up. So I've gone for one of the mobile packages from Vodafone. Only trouble is it's not much faster than dial-up!!! Each page is taking about 2 or 3 minutes to load!!!!!! I guess that's the price you pay for living in the middle of nowhere. Thinking of getting a laptop so I can use it in the middle of Aberdeen.
Is the trip still on?? I haven't any first hand knowledge of the rally you mention but can ask around and get back to you. When I've got a few spare hours, I'll click the link and have a look.
By the way, the house is great, needs work but we'll get there eventually. The only downside is that it's up a dirt track which can be a challenge on a bike. I'll try and get some pictures to load up.
KK
Nice to hear from you again KK. As far as I'm aware it's still on, but looks like it might only be me and Andy at the moment, if my bike's back on the road by then.

Never been to any of the 'MAG' events, but this one is only about 20 miles from my new house, so it's certainly worth a looksee. Are you happy to pay the extra fiver 'on the gate' otherwise I'd need some strict numbers to get hold of some tickets. (15 quid tickets or 20 quid on the gate)

Here is a picture of the lawn (well, field really.......hardly what you'd call a lawn) with the house in the background. There's 2 spare bedrooms, one double bed and 1 single, (first come first served) plus a conservatory where you could throw down a blow up bed or similar and as many tents as you like if you prefer the great outdoors. This was me and the dog halfway through mowing the field. (think I'm gonna swap the dawg for a cow.)
http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/Kawasaki-krazy/Garden.jpg
Although the next house is a good distance away, unfortunately, the sound travels VERY well in the quiet of the countryside. But good news, The guy next door is an ex biker (he has an American accent and used to ride Harleys but I won't hold that against him) and I'll probably invite him anyways.
This message has taken just over an hour to complete. what with uploading the photo to photobox, and every page taking about 5 minutes to load, I'm seriously ****ed off with the internet access at this new house.(worse than dial up). Later this month I'm getting a new computer at work, which is not controlled by our I.T. dept. so I'm gonna do most of my surfing there I reckon. Untill then, my visits to the interweb thingy are gonna be a bit limited (mainly 'cos I don't have that much patience anymore)
KK
Ok, got my bike back on the road yesterday. So far it all seems to be fine, so looks like I'm still good for this trip. Only thing I need to install now is my Tomtom Rider for the trip, so I can program in all the petrol stops I need on the way up to your house Andy. And to be able to find your house as well.

I hope you boys get the weather for it! I am surprised there was no more interest too. 3 bikes are better than none I guess. I was hoping to spring myself as a late re entry to the ride out but I'm still not in a position to make it.
I went on a 2 day ride out my friend and 3 of his mates over here a couple of weeks back and it was a disaster. Rain, fog, punctures, breakdowns.... (not the ZL thank god). It was like we couldnt get 50 miles before we had a problem. Still we had some nice roads and good beer, but overall a bit dissapointing. I had some photographs to post up here but my darling 7 year old daughter hit the delete button on the camera and wiped everything...
This summer has turned out to be a krap one again for us here in Ireland. Thats 2 years in a row. Dammit, next year has got to be better, right?

As far as i`m concerned (not that my opinion should count)it`s a club thing and all are welcome , no need for invites..if we decide to do scotland again it may run into 4 or 5 day trip stating west coast an going north finishing east coast borders,or even wales or eire.people should let there preference`s be known...you did miss a good ride out adam achieved nearly 1200 miles i did about 750 ish and steve ...........well the weather was lousey and i know he will put plenty miles in before next run...come on people throw your suggestions into the ring.me i would like the scotland trip again but the others sound just as good..

andy scotland or eire sounds good to me,i have never been to either.i've heard the west coast is stunning and the same for eire! it will be good to get a new thread started and get some votes in,there are currently 13 uk members on the zl owners map plus there could be more in the future so as you say it would be good to get some thoughts in. how about lands end to john o groats via wales, lake district etc etc. or what about a european run to france or germany or itlay or spain or what about ww11 land marks, the list goes on,as they say the world is our oyster!!!! i am just waiting for my new d&d exhaust to arrive and my bike will be ready so it would be good to meet adam as he only lives about 35 miles from me and arrange a day ride somewhere...

Hey thanks for sharing! Looks like a great time
glad to see you made the trip my old zl is now my mates and he has removed the engine to try and sort out the surging problem thats plaged it since i had the bike.
I'll load up my pictures as soon as I can guys. At least my new tyres were scrubbed in well with the 1200 miles being put on them in the first 5 days. Well, nearly 1200 miles anyway. Really looking forward to next year's run, wherever it is. I just have the usual gripe, wishing my fuel tank was bigger, but ah well, can't have everything.
Ok guys, Here are some photos from the trip, sorry about the delay on these.
