As far as I know the ZL900s were either Black or Red ...

Now that Mark has mentioned it I think they did come in blue but unfortunately I don't think you can edit the poll questions

What was the actual percentages of bikes built for each year? I just picked up a ZL1000 that is a maroon color, not the brighter reds I see on the 900's, maybe it's just an optical illusion? Anyone have the color codes? It looks like to me that the black ones out number the red ones by at least a 2 to 1 margin, what say you guys???

I have pics of a darker red one as well. Owner doesn't know if it's a repaint or not.

the '87 red color is entirely different from the '85 & '86 reds. The primary color of the '87 is called Luminous red with the secondary color named candywine red. sorry I don't have the official name of the earlier reds.

Hellion is the Candywine color. Candy: cause it is eye candy and Wine: cause the ZL1 makes other bike's "whine" when passed! :twisted: :biggrin:

My 900 was repainted to a custom color, but still mostly black..

My ZL1000 is a custom Gold. But not for long. I'm going to try to repaint it in the factory blue. Just waiting to find some original or bolt on lookalike mufflers.

Yep ... my ZL1000 is the Aussie factory colour .. called "Cosmic Galaxy Blue" so I'm told .. my daily rider is factory finish, my "spare" bike is a close copy of the original blue .. and then I have a spare repainted black tank as well, (to go with a black rear fender and side covers).
