Don't take this the wrong way, but why would you pay 18 dollars plus shipping for something that you can make in your garage for like.............nothing? How hard is it to find the right size bottle, cut the top off of it and fancy a fuel line to it? Oh yea, and I hang mine from the garage door with a coat hanger! Total cost? Maybe .05 cents???? Doesn't leak and haven't blown myself up yet!!!!!

not taking it the wrong way TSST !
i've always had to make things to do certain jobs, & there is nothing wrong with that, but over this past summer, i loaned a friend some much needed money for his failing motorcycle shop. he made me a silent partner until he paid back loan, then i became a technician apprentice. this was my dream job, & i was able to help my friend keep the business going a little while longer during the struggling economy. to make a long story short, the shop did eventually close, due to being so far in debt. i gained alot of knowledge, & made friends with several of our clients. i still get phone calls from these people asking me to work on their bikes, & they keep asking me to open up my own shop. i'm getting alot of support from my family & friends because they all know that this was my dream job, (being around bikes all day, everyday) so, while i'm waiting for the economy to bounce back, i'm trying to stock up on professional grade equipment, & tools.

some of you know my best friend jason ( a.k.a. vfrman ) jason has been my righthand man in restoring Eleanor, & is awesome with paintwork. jason & i, are talking about being partners in this adventure, but we are waiting to see how the economy goes, before we take the next step in opening our shop ! Best to do it at home and keep the overhead low.
Just keep it under your hat so the neighbors don't bitch.
You can get plenty of biz by word of mouth.
I do no advertizing other than on bike sites and have emails for stuff
from all over the world for parts daily.

thanks for the tip mach !!!! i am doing it the way you say as of now. my neighbors all know what i'm doing, & they also support it, as long as i dont get carried away with it at night.
they are used to seeing alot of bikes enter & exit my driveway.

we also have an older gentleman that lives directly across from me, that will come over if things are too quiet, & ask if we can make a little noise once in awhile ! i guess it helps him remember when he used to ride back in the 40's !!!! he'll even ask dad to do a burnout so he can smell the burnt rubber !!! lol !!!!! my neighbors are so cool, but i try not to take advantage of their good nature ! I've just used those aluminium water / fuel bottles for use with "Primus" fuel camping stoves. Drill a hole in the bottom and pop in a hose, fill it with fuel and unscrew the cap slightly to allow air to get in for the fuel to flow smoothly and hang it up high. Similar designed plastic drink bottles will do the same trick.

Since I'm the one who bought the IV bottle, I suppose the question is for me. The answer.........conveinance!! The same reason someone would rather have a lift table to work on their bike than to hang them suspended from the rafters. I like specialty tools anyway:laughing7:!!!!!!!! Mark

Actually, that's like comparing apples and oranges. Obviously, I wouldn't hang a motorcycle from the rafters, but if I had the skill, which I don't, to build a lift table for 5 bucks, instead of buying a new one for 200, I'd build the 5 dollar table. Same deal with the IV bottle. I can build one for like a nickel, that's why I wouldn't buy one for 18 dollars that isn't any better than the one I made. Convenience isn't an issue, unless you count the 2 minutes of my precious time it took to build the nickel bottle!

I'm sure ZLMark would've much rather had one of these bottles to work with this past weekend rather than to keep switching his tank off his bike while working on Hellion's!! These are pretty darn handy and hold enough to run it more than a couple of minutes without re-filling like a Coke can or simmular container. Money well spent IMHO.........glad I got mine!
