Default mean streak conversion--

ok ... I got the rim & tire, brake caliper, calipher bracket, rear master cyl, rear brake line....any thing else I need off the MS????

also need a spare zl brake calipher bracket as it is my understanding that I have to have one modified to make the set up work. dont want to tear down my bike until all the pices are ready to go.. so if a guy has one as a loaner, I could return the one on my zl currently when I get the job completed, buy and trade are also available options..

I talked with Mach IV he said he cannot find the jig he made for the modification of the brake arm, I saw a post here somewhere where he loaned it out, he thinks it may have not been returned, now I cannot find that post, if anybody knows who borrowed that jig, please let me know as I am really gonna need it, besides we need to keep a handel on these kinda things for the next guy...

Hey B,
I had Mach make me one last year sometime, but he kept the jig. I sold (damit) the bike with the mod, and the ****head I sold it to wont return calls, so I dont know where that bike went, or else would make a measurement for you. I will dig around the garage today and see if I still have the stock cali and bracket.
I used the stock ZL Rear Master Cyl. but had a new stainless line made up for the set up. I also changed out the rubber "drive boot"? inside the rim to a new one. I got the stock tire size for the M/S and it came out looking really small, and changed the RPM vs Road Speed by quite a bit. May want to get a tire with a little more sidewall. Man are you going to LOVE the difference. Gonna make your front brakes seem weak.

Bacchus - I have a modified Meansreak rear mounting bracket that MackIV got made for me and shipped to the IK.
I can take photos and measurements if that would help.

Yes, the short sidewall does compromise the look quite a bit, IMO.

Doesn't this mod require machining the rear rim?? Or am I thinking of something else?? Anyway, if you still need to borrow a ZL caliper bracket, I have one I'm willing to loan - the motor's blown on the bike so it's not moving for awhile! Send me a PM if interested.

GD - this mod should not need any machining of the rim.
The caliper bracket mod needs a bracket from the Meanie - not a ZL one.

vinney,

thanks photos and measurements would be great. I was under the impression that I needed to modify the zl9 bracket so if that is not the case, I wont need one as I allready have the meanie bracket here

zot-- the stock meanstreak tire is 170 60 17 no?? this size tire is 14mm larger than the stock zl9 tire 170 80 15, this will make a 4mph difference in the speedo reading at 200mph.... these two tires are almost a spot on match in terms of height and cercumference... I will pobably be a glutton and go for a 180 55 17 this will reduce speedo error at 200mph to 2.8mph... a 1.4x% difference ... should be no noticable diff in speedo or rpms as a larger tire will actually mean that the rpms are 1.4x% lower at same speed

Yep - I think it is stretched about 2 inches - but have not got a Meanie bracket to compare it with!
