Hello guys,
I just finished cleaning up the stock 30mm Keihin carbs that came with my 1989 ZL 400 SE bike (#85 Main jets). It was pretty easy to remove the carbs, however, refitting them is so damn complicated and time consuming.
Further more, I noticed that the air box rubber intake hoses/gaskets are all in pretty bad shape. The previous owner tried to refurbish them, but he didn't do a good job.
I checked a lot of threads to find more info on the pod conversion subject and now I am sure that I will go forward with the conversion and of course I will also increase the jets size to #105.
The only piece of information I'm missing out is what pods should I go for. I see that most of you are using K&N filters, perhaps you can help me with the part number I should order (I do not exclude sporting Uni pods).
The Zl 600 and Zl 400 models share the same 30mm Keihin carbs, the only difference being the stock Main jets size (#90 vs #85), so probably same pod filters would work on both.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
A small teaser with a Zl400 running pods and a 4in1 exhaust system : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM6UdlVvmWU
Thank you in advance.

If you go with UNI also buy the Outwear prefilter/socks. They are water & dust proof. I use them on all our off road toys. They help extend the life of the filters & less cleaning in between rides. I also use Notoil cleaning products & filter oil.
