12Volt outlet.

I bought a Bosch "PowerLet" 12 volt (commonly found on BMW motorbikes) outlet a while back and couldn't think of where to mount it, so eventually I mounted it on an aluminium alloy plate directly under the fuse block and side cover on the right hand side, and used the existing brake line retaining bracket bolt as a mounting point.

When I wired it in, I left it an open circuit (of course, I installed an inline 10amp fuse block on the positive wire side, to be safe), so not also could I use it as an auxilary power outlet like, to power my mobile / cell phone whilst riding, or use my small tyre inflator to pump up my tyres if I get a flat, but when parked at home, it also serves to plug my trickle charger in to keep the battery charge topped up when I'm not riding. You can buy a powerlet / standard cigerette lighter plug to convert any appliances over (they look like a normal cigerette lighter plug, but have a red slip "cuff' over the insert end) so they can be used with this socket, but I just made an extension adapter from a length of "curly" telephone type 30amp power cord and fixed a powerlet plug on one end and a standard cigerette lighter socket on the other.

The wire comes down directly from the battery between the fuse box and the back of the airbox and connects to the socket from under the side cover, there's not much room, so you'll have to connect the wires to the socket at right angles, once soldered on, cover all bare wires individually with black heat shrink tubing, then a larger heat shrink tube over the top to keep everything neat and tidy, then liberally coat with black silicon caulk / paste, to weather seal it and leave it to set overnight. and you are done.

It's been on the bike now for over two years, with no problems.

I've got a 12V outlet on my ZX-12R. The previous owner put it on there when he got fed up of having to take the false tank off to get to the battery if it needed charging.

It's just under the passenger seat, in the small storage area there. He drilled the hole through the "Daily check list" sticker that's there to mount it nice and flush.

I'll put up a picture of it tonight if I can.
