85 ZL900 pods

I`ve got 2 already but what the hell I`m heading to Daytona
in a couple weeks.
I`m gonna watch it.
 
No more low bid,it`s over $1k,I think he`s bidding on it himself
or having a friend bump it.

K&N RC 2774/2770 is a direct fit designed for the zl900. The inside diameter of the flange is 51mm or 2" I have these on my bike and they sure look pretty. They are longer than usual and fill that empty space better.

Once I re-install my airbox I will be sending one of mine to Handsome Man's Filters in Thailand to be copied.
 
yeah thanks a lot the local dealer has a catalog and was going to charge me $190 for the 600 set that is online for $140, and seeeing as how this is a spare time spare money project that's great. thanks for the link.

Funny this thread should come up..

Mark, didn't you lose one some time back? I rode into work today (70 and sunny here today :dancingfool: ) and dropped one somewhere on the way home. IIRC, you were able to buy just the one pod from K&N. Was this right?
 
Suggestions:

take a piece of mechanics wire and thread it through the bottom of all 4 filters.

Also make sure the inside of the rubber mounting flange is clean, oil free, and dry. Don't even think about overtightening. I tighten them down until they don't move -light pressure.
 
did anyone notice that the 600 and 900 have different sets from k&n. the only difference is the height, for your 900's they r 5" tall and fofrr our 600's they r 2.75" tall. just incase somebody with a 600 was reading this and didn't notice.

Exactly, they are listed only for the zl900, even the zl1000 lists a different part#

5" tall! That's a big filter. I use Vance and Hines oval pod filters on my 600 and they 'just' fit.

I bent a piece of round metal bar, fitted a foam tube to it, and mounted it to the bottom airbox fixings. This pushes on the back of the filters but still looks tidy, if anyone actually notices it, and only takes seconds to release.

The picture might be easier to understand. Not very good quality but you can see what I mean.

The bar piece works on the 900's as well. Been on mine since I owned it - no lost or dropped pods. Later.
 
Funny, all I had to do was NOT use the included clamps!! All I had to do was buy a set of regular radiator hose clamps (much wider and wont push the filter off the carb by squeezing the boot). It's cheap, and no additional work!!

I'd like to compare jetting settings with you since we both are using the same RC2774's

Pipes...Stock
5 Deg advancer plate
Jet kit dynojet 2137
Main Jet DJ136
Needle Groove 5th from top
Float height 16.5mm
air screws 4 turns out


Runs good. Not as much oomph down low. The more fuel i throw at it the more power it recovers. I'm going to call dynojet and try to get some recommendations. I think i need a larger main still. This kit is designed for the RC1824's which are much shorter.
