Lowlife, I don't find get any pleasure from using firearms or shooting animals anymore, I use to in the military but not anymore, but I'm realistic, there is a need for them, as I've written before, they are a useful tool for feral animal control.
The kangaroo population in the majority of country areas is usually pretty strong, they are a hazard to motorists and especially bike riders, as some other aussie members will testify, I myself have had some very close calls with near misses with kangaroos on the bike, they graze on the grass on the sides of the roads and when a car or bike approaches, they bolt, usually straight across your path, and they are very fast and agile, you don't always see them until the very last milli-second, then it's way too late to avoid them.
They have been known to jump clear over the bonnet of a car and hit the windscreen full on, so imagine having a 85 - 100kg animal come suddenly crashing through your windscreen at 100km/h, without any hint it's going to happen !!! and imagine if you were on a motorbike, the results are usually pretty catastrophic, very severe injuries and even deaths are not uncommon. I lost a mate just recently to a kangaroo hitting him, and thats the point they hit you, not the other way around. Hence most local bike riders don't ride there bikes at night here.
The rabbits are just a nuisance, they dig up garden beds, dig bloody holes (warrens) everywhere where horses and other animals can fall in and break their legs and are generally very destructive, if you don't keep the local numbers down, under the right conditions, they can reach plague proportions.
