Ok guy's I posted this up on a local forum
http://www.renegadeevents.com/rally-in-the-valley/rallyinthevalley.html

and got this reply,

This sounds like a gathering of the Thugs.....

I don't mean to be cynical, but these types of rallies draws out the biker clubs IE Soul Brothers, United, Unknown Riders...etc. Just a bunch of thugs with shinny bikes and leather vest.

So what I want to ask is how meny of you guy's go to stuff like this ?

I voted "go all the time", but what's probably needed is a middle ground. I don't go out of my way to hit biker rallies, but if there's one happening and I can make it, I aways have a good time.

IMO, there are more thug-wannabees than actual thugs. LOL
But honestly, aren't the biker clubs the people these events are TRYING to draw? I mean, for the promoters, they want the biggest draw to their event. What is your cynical friend trying to infer? That he'd rather be sitting on his bike alone?

The crowd pics don't look intimidating at all! LOL

Ok this was the frist poll I have set up and I thought I had

~thats a Harley thing only

~if it's next door and I get in free

but I don't know how to fix it ? ? ? Who can do that for me ?

How about adding an option for :-

"I used to go but now I've got so soft in my old age and can't be bothered with all that camping and loud music anymore and now just want to stay in a Bed & Breakfast"

That one would get my vote. :D

KK

How about another option: I just go for the booze, women and to look at the other bikes, then bring the woman back to the bed and breakfast. 555

The thing is 50 miles from my house , who needs a room are tent just ride home with her on the bike ... :D

I go to bike nights around here, usually have no probs its the wannabe tough guys that usually cause the probs not the real riders. Is that an actual Harley doing a burnout on the main page or is that a Yammy V Star incognito?
*will probably get slapped on the pee pee for saying that.* :rotf:
Doubt I'd go all the way back out to CA just to go to that one! LOL

I dont go to everyone around, but manage to hit a few of the rallies and a few of the poker runs around here. As hellion said its usually the wanna bees that cause trouble and most of that is just people mouthing off.

LOL Around here it's mostly at bars or BBQ joints and most of them are Harley riders that only drive from thier home to the event then back home never going out on runs, I usually end up riding with what few non Harleys show up and the very few Harley riders that do ride more then 800 miles a year. These are the people I consider "real riders" ones like me that bought thier bikes to ride and enjoy spending more time on the road then in the bars/food joints. Heck even most of the non Harley riders don't put as many miles on thier bikes as I do LOL I put over 4000 miles on the ZL600 since march of 2008. *Thats when Kelly bought her* Unfortunatly Hellions been down most of this year but am hoping to have most of the problems worked out by next spring. I put 2480 miles on him from Oct 2007 till march 2008. But I am :icon_twisted: like that. LOL

Reminds me of the old keg party daze....if you know how to deal with that kind of crowd...no problem...but there is always that "time to go" moment at each of these I have attended. I dont take the ZL being 'put down' very well, so I may have started it once or twice(or finished it). The right type of event can be loads of fun though.

Earlier this summer I met a buddy at the local drinkin hole called Willie's Wet Spot...so you get the idea. Harleys everyplace and yes some v-stars hidden in there too, but I came back out with the friend and three or four guys were standing over the ZL talkin' ****..."lets drag it down the road..." "Jap crap"...etc. I was'nt willing to bow down so it literally got physical by the end of it...guys fingering guns and all. Had to alpha dog them to some extent to get going on my bike then aimed the back tire at their bikes (gravel lot) and peppered the place upon exit! One simple "just jokin" would have made it ok but it really was gettin' serious. Glad I didnt have my lady with me.

Just inform them of the facts and it will be them feeling like they made the wrong choice in bikes! LOL Besides it's usually the clueless ones that put down anyones bike.

Some of those guys it just doesn't matter.I had 2 older harleys, one was a total pile O crap. The second I bought cheap and redone it.It was a sweet ride. The diehard harley rat that has it now has realy jacked it up.But any way, after I got the raider this spring,I went on a poker run.I had a few guys giving me crap about buying a jap bike.(Nothing to bad).2 of the guys I new realy well, and kinda expected it from one of them.I told them to jump on it and go for a spin,I had no takers. It realy made me laugh.I mean what kind of motorcycle guy would not get on a buddys brand new bike and go for a ride.If I was offered there is alot of new bikes I would like to ride.
Then this dillrod that has my old bike, that I built starts giving me crap. Now I don't know him well enough for him to be rippin on me.I just ignored him,and one of the other guys told him that I built his pride and joy. That shut him up pretty quick. Then he asked why I got rid of it.I said thats simple.I said I bought it cheap, and sold it for double what I had in it.He just turned around and left.I didn't tell him that it was for the down payment on my house, and a new riding lawn mower.
I took the zl on the last poker run.I had alot of lookers, and nice things said.I think most people atleast respect a good lookin 23yr old muscle bike.
Some of those guys,I think just don't know any better. Before I bought the raider,I rode a new softail standard,a fatboy, and a streetglide. The streetglide I liked. But you can't ride a new harley, and say it is the best bike there is.None of them do everything
perfect. It just depends what you wanna do with the bike, and most important what YOU like.

I experienced Sturgis at its finest! Back when the Angels and Rebels were feuding, think it was '77. I saw things I hope yours and my kids never see! I know it is a much better atmosphere these days but have no interest in attending! Besides, it conflicts with MVD!
Now, I will go on poker runs and bike nights and would like to attend Daytona once (bucket list) just because.
