Removing rear "underfender"?

I was just curious if any of you have removed the rather strange duckbill extension off the back of your bike?

If so, do ya happen to have a pic of how it looks? Also, when you go through puddles or rain, do you get alot of spray on your back? (the skunk look? :) )

Thoughts appreciated!

"Translucent Red Powder Coated Parts" is it not :?:

Either way it does scream something, nearly as loud as my Candy Lime Green I guess :D

Translucent Red Powder Coated Parts" is it not

yeah,thats what i said!........Red colouring,,,probably a red Texta!!...

That bike is located the next "burb" up from me, strange I've never seen it around town. I'm sure I would have noticed with the red sticking out like it does.

What have you guys used to restore the faded black plastic parts on your bikes? Is there a product that will restore the finish or paint?

There's a product that works pretty well that you can get in any auto parts store called "Back to Black" I think is the name. Just look around the car waxes and tire shiners and stuff like that, there's usually a good variety of stuff to try. Later.

try this stuff mark is talking about. this stuff is awesome !!!!!!!! it's called, " SILKOLENE PROPREP " hard surface cleaner. i cant thank mark enough for telling us about this stuff ! give it a try, & i gaurentee you'll be happy ! :D

I have used "Back to Black" in the past, I can tell you the Pro Prep works great! Check out the pics I posted on the link Mark put up there! :yeahthat:

I bought "Back to Black", a while ago, but it's just a very thin black coating that will eventually flake off, sorta like the "Scuff Stuff" shoe polish they have here in Oz for doing your boots, shoes etc. it doesn't last long enough and it's badly affected by water and washing, so it's a waste of money, IMO.

I haven't seen the "Silkolene" Pro-Prep and I have been looking for it locally, but by the recommendation that chris gives, I'd give it a go first.

Usually if the surface is in good condition and the plastic isn't too badly faded, a good soaking of vinyl rejuvenator or "Armour-All" vinyl/plastic dash protectant will bring it back, but you'll need to re-apply it after every wash. I've even used good old, black boot polish in the past (that was before they invented "Armour-All" vinyl/plastic dash protectant.

Other than that, for a more permanent solution, lightly sand and prime with plastic etch primer and then paint with "satin" finish black spray paint will make it look new again.

Just another tribute to the Silkolene Pro Prep.
I'm messing with a coworkers 83 nighthawk - pretty weathered, thought I would try some Pro Prep on it - Good Stuff!!!!!!
