Carb Air Screws

Confused

Before I wind myself up any more, is there any difference between the '85 and '96 ZL600 engine? I'm after a carb kit and ignition advance which I can get for the earlier model but not the later. I've been told I can use stuff from the Ninja 600 but what year Ninja matches the '96 ZL?
