1985 ZL900 For Sale

Hey guys, I finally found the ZRX that I want, an 04, now I need to sell my eliminator. I am surprised I got no response with what I put in the bikes for sale forum. If anyone is interested let me know asap, other wise I will be putting it on ebay. Looking for at least $3200. Miles are low, runs great, been riding it almost everyday the weather permits. Surely someone must be looking for a turnkey bike. Posted pics just recently but have a couple more if anyone wants to see any specific part up close. Thanks.

Well, NO bids from ebay??? What gives?? So far my best offer is from MrMatt $2500. One guy from Pottstown supposed to come tomorrow to have a look. Anyone willing to do better than MrMatt's offer? Give me a shout.

My ZL900 has black painted carbs. Just wondering if anyone knows why most carbs are black and a few that I've seen are a goldish/tan color. Is there an upgradeable set up; or just a different look from removing the black. Any thoughts would be appreciated!! :scratch:
 
I have black carbs, but I would guess if you were to remove the paint the carbs would be goldish in color...Maybe...But mine are black painted.

I DUNNO! good question ! all three zl900's i have owned over the years have had no paint on the carbs. i like it better this way, because i can shine them to a mirror finish. tell you the truth ! until i joined our group, i've never seen a zl with black carbs !! CHRIS
 
Yeah, both of mine have been black as well. I'm considering refinishing them with some hop-ups I'm getting ready to do. Black looks great though. hmmmm. Thanks gang!
 
They painted the carbs black but usually if someone pulls the carbs to clean they soak the whole carb body which removes the paint. That why you'll see some with paint and others without. Mine no longer have paint because I replaced the original carbs with a set off of a Concours.

I appreciate the insight everyone. I'm gonna leave them black as they were from the factory. I am anxious to post some pics of my bike for all to check it out. I want to do some before and after photos 1st. Thanks again!!! :puttside:
