Hello!

Thought it'd be polite to introduce myself before I jump in and start bombarding you all with questions!

So, I'm Jo, I'm in the UK and after 2 years on my EL250 I have just moved up to a ZL400. Bought as a bit of a shed off ebay and more or less completely rebuilt by my other half, we're currently running her in (she'd been off the road for 6 years when I got her) and finding all sorts of niggly little problems!

Here is the before pic:

And this is now:

And just for the record this is my beloved little 250:

Better warn you now, I am a fairly prolific poster........

that lil 400 looks as mean and nasty as my 900. Good luck with it and thanks for showing us the pics.

Hi Yambabe

Good to see you made it here at last, but I still think you should do something about that username though

KK

LOL just for you KK, here I am again as my alter ego!

Think this is the first forum I've been on where you can change your own user name, usually you have to get an Admin to do it for you. 8)

Incidentally, for those of you with nothing better to do than read my myriads of posts the reason I have his name is because EVERY time I go anywhere on my bike here in the UK it rains. :(

Friends have taken to ringing me or emailing me towards the end of the week:
FRIEND: Are you out this weekend?
ME: Yep.
FRIEND: Which way you headed then?
ME: North to (insert name of place). Will I see you there?
FRIEND: err, no, if you're going North I will be going South this week.....

This is true!

Did the 400 ever make it into the States? I don't remember ever seeing them. Good luck with it and I'm sure we can answer most of your questions you might have about it.

Rain Goddess, Welcome to the site and I'm sure you'll be able to get any of your questions answered here.

KK

This weekend I have been to the Yorkshire Rock and Bike Show at Squires KK (I was working on one of the trade stalls) and guess what?

Yup, torrents of the stuff.

The Satans Slaves who organised the show asked me to leave at 5pm, so they had a chance to party tonight........

Guys, I'm not sure if the 400 made it to the States. I know it never officially made it to the UK cos mine is an import, I believe from Japan.

A lot of the 400 bits are identical to the 600, or so I'm told.

I guess I will say hello as well, nice to see an Eliminator forum. I ride a 900 eliminator I am the second owner. There were 1200 KM on he wen i baught her now there is 24000 KM. I had an accident on her this summer a lady cut accross my lane and i ran into her. I got banged up pretty bad as well as the bike did to. I almost got her finished now and i am hopeing to get a few spins on her before the winter comes. I am from Burin Newfoundland Canada, Eliminators are really rare bike in these parts, there are 6 that i know of for shur and there maybe another few around somewhwere on the island(900 that is). I tell you how hard they are to come by I looked for almost 7 years before I seen this one for sale. So looking forwart to reading your post and chat later people, peace.

Da Newfie Bullett  :)

Has anyone here bought the brackets from Rick Maker to keep the sidecovers on with pods? I've been seeing a lot of posts about it lately so I spent a couple hours digging through the spam on KERA to find who made em. If we get enough people that want them we may get a good price from him to make a run. Or, if anyone has one of the brackets, we can get a local machine shop to build em for us.

Just cut the sides of the airbox off and bolt them back on. the covers fit on that. Thats what i did in the past.

Wuputt
If you come up with a bracket let me know, might be a good winter project. Otherwise I was considering possibly designing/building a prototype if time permits. Think I may also be looking at doing some work on making a fork brace, though I would have to farm out the machining for now, though I am looking hard and heavy for a mill, but hey it took me 20 years to get the motorcycle I wanted :-)

Just ask Rick the cost to make you up a set. I have a set, and they work great!! It cant be that much $$$.
