I'm new to this forum. I became an Eliminator owner after purchasing a red '95 ZL900. I've always wanted on and finally got one.

My question is, where do I find a shop manual? I see supplements of various numbers, but I think I need a base. Do I look for a GPZ900 manual? I'm just not sure what to buy.

My second question is, I bought this bike from a friend who was told by a Kawasaki shop there was a recall a long time ago to replace soft valves. This bike I guess didn't get the new valves and it will run 1000-1500 miles then the valves need adjusted. I have not even looked at it yet. Just curious if this is a common thing, and if a valve replacement is the fix as he was told.

ZL900 Question........

You are right about the valves. From start the inlet valves are made of poor metal, but most of the ZL900 valves are replaced.But anyway, You have to check the valves acc.to the service manual, and it says about 3000 mls.
You can download the ZL9-Supplement on my site,but more specific engine details are from the ZX900 or GPZ900R

Hey gang! Ray was good enough to post his pics of his D&D 4into 1 system the other day. It looks real good, but I am a little hesitant to go to a single canister. I am also looking at the Holeshot satin black slip-ons from Dale Walker. Any thoughts on that set up? Also, if anyone knows the power gains, if any, I would really appreciate that info as well!!
 
I haven't a clue. But i'm sure Dale would be happy to respond to an email or phone call. Make sure you mention us here at zl-oa.com.
 
The power gain will depend on what you do in addition to putting the slip-ons on!
If you change the air box for pods - then you will get about 10 bhp (I think) from the changes.
If you keep standard air box - not a lot of power gain, but loose 14 pounds by junking the collector box.

I did call Dale Walkers holeshot inc. and speak to someone the other day. I couldn't get a clear answer on power gain. I like the looks of the black satin cans without tips. It kinda keeps the drag vein going. Anyway, Than ks to all for your input. I will post pics of my before and after in a few weeks.. Ride safe!
