Deka Battery ETX15L

Hey all!

Just wanted to share with you my experience with the Deka ETX15L sealed AGM battery.

I bought my ZL900 in 4/05 with this battery already in it. I have no clue on how old it is but it's at least 6 yrs old. I usually try to store my batteries indoors over winter but there has been at least 2 winters I haven't. This battery is still going strong! I decided to buy one for the ZL1000 and also my cousins CB750K1. I found them locally for about $65+tax.

I had bad luck with the Deka's - maybe I just got a bad one. It didn't hold up to working on the bike, when I was doing things like compression tests, etc, trying to get the 1000 running when I first got it. Even though I tried to keep it on a charger in between working on it, it eventually wouldn't hold a charge. I switched to Interstate's sealed battery and it seems to be a really strong battery. The bike cranked over in colder weather better. I went out to put the 900 on the trickle charger the other day after the bike had been sitting for almost 2 months and it still showed a full charge. Problem with Interstates are they are expensive - about $100. I love the sealed batteries though, I'll never put another acid type in any bike I own from here on out. Just my experience. Later.

I have this battery in all four Eliminators and my '85 Goldwing. As soon as the OEM battery in my Voyager XII gives out, I'll put one in it too. I've had good luck with them but I do keep them all on a big bank Battery Tender at all times......even in the Summer.

I have those Deka's in both my bikes...I just put the one in the 1K a couple of weeks ago. The one in my 900 has been there for two years. I NEVER put it on a charge. At 0 degrees in the garage, the 900 cranked just like it would in 70 degree weather. I get them from a local parts store that I use a lot. We have Interstate batteries for my trucks at work (national account) and the deka's I have had to buy in a pinch (group 31 truck batteries) are stronger in the Deka. Have had a few issues with the Interstate batteries in my trucks at work...The Deka is a much heavier battery, I know, I have had to carry them from the trucks in the warehouse to my shop...
