Just purchased an Eli

I figured I would say hi to everyone as I am now an Eliminator rider as of this afternoon when i purchased a ZL900. I have loved these bikes for years, and timing worked out well for once. I got a new job, better money and found an Eli in good shape......I had to get it. I rode her some this evening and really didnt want to stop. I am going on another business trip in the morning and will be gone for a few weeks. But at least I got to ride her before I left.

So, Hi everyone.......god i love this bike.

Yup, I can see why you’d like to post your own pics. You’d think someone trying to sell a bike on their website would, at the very least, straighten the mirror. It wouldn’t take much to position a bike in a park under a tree or use some other (uncluttered) background. But that’s enough about their poor photographic skills (I hope it wasn’t one of our fellow members) I know you’ll do better.

What’s the breed of pod filters? They look like wetted foam whereas most use K&N (or similar) paper element filters. Personally, I prefer them provided they’re serviced regularly and entirely cloak the screens (i.e. don’t let dust in).

Did you get replacement chrome swingarm caps? Oh, and what happened to the grip rubbers?

Mine (Factory Cosmic Galaxy Blue ZL1000) wasn't exactly in good shape when I found her (wreckers had already started on her) and unlike you, I never loved them, in fact I had never seen one of them here in Oz. Well one look and that was it, I had to have it. I was also changing jobs and the day after I got my golden handshake I went around to the wrecker and it was gone, boo hoo :( .

Three month later I found it in the trading post, advertised on the other side of Sydney so two hrs later I was negotiating. A couple of hrs after that it was mine (had to go back and get the trailer, you know, I didn’t want to turn up with the trailer first time around, that’d look too keen).

The filters are Unifiliters, they do appear to do their job. I see no uncoverd/unfiltered areas on or around them. I am not sure if i will stick with that brand, but i will stick with pods.

I have bought nothing for the bike. Those pictures show it as it sat the day i got it, and as it still sits except the background has changed to my carport and my '74 ford pinto wagon. I have riden the bike a total of a mile. I got a call to go out on a business trip while I was signing the paperwork and took her home. I packed, went to bed and hopped a flight 800 miles from home the next morning. That is going on a week now. I am shooting for going home this saturday.....when I do get there I am going to see how many tanks of fuel I can go through in one day :D

I will be cleaning her up and getting some of my own pictures. If there is anything you notice (like the handle grips) that you want to see closer I can get pictures. I will be shopping for a few accessories and possibly for a few mods soon. But i do want to ride her how I got her first to see what she feels like and what I notice might need a bit of work.

All in all she is a strong running bike. The clutch has a very minor slip to it that I will be addressing soon.....but she is still strong enough to plant you into the seat rise and make you hold on when you open it up. I likes.
 
Does anybody else have a problem with the "bidder 1", "bidder 2" thing?

This seems to encourage the sellers mate to bump up the bidding, since you can't do a check back on the bidders history or location, to see if the bidder and seller are linked.

I don't think I'm going to bid on anything anymore, that doesn't show me who the other bidders are.
Am I paranoid?

No you're not paranoid, I don't care for it much either. I have a habit of avoiding auctions like that.
 
I'm with you KK.
I do not like this anonymous bidder business - its ripe for abuse!
I know Ebay will say they want to protect bidder privacy, but this is wrong !

are you guys serious :cool10: i bet there has allways been "friends" bidding to make the price to be high enough

i have never selled anything but bought a lot from ebay and if i would sell a high valued stuff i would do the same :pale:

Yep, but with a little bit of digging, you could track certain bidders and make a connection with certain sellers. For high value items I would certainly do a little bit of research. Now you cannot do that.
As Vinny says....its ripe for abuse!

BTW......I would also report any suspect bidding that I found.

PART OF THE FUN IS FINDING OUT WHO IS UPPING THE BIDDING THEN SENDING STUPID QUESTION ,IF THEY CAN WIND ME UP BIDDING THERE OWN AUCTION I THINK A LITTLE BIT OF PAY BACK IS NEEDED.DOES IT COME IN GLOSS FINISH ALWAYS GETS THE RIGHT REPLY...LOL :joker: ANDY
 
I hate that crap as well. I've busted a few people on running up their own auctions before. I agree the carbs appear to be in excellent shape, but I ain't paying $200 for 'em.

:yeahthat: i agree ! too pricey, except from known carb shop. anyone can shine up a set of carbs to make them look great, but i've been burned before on looks, when the item i purchased was actually junk. CHRIS
 
Just bid what you wanna pay and what`s the prob?
The cause for this shill bidding is caused by ebay itself charging for
every damn thing you do when listing.
 
That's a lot of money especially if the diaphrams haven't been replaced. That was my biggest problem on my carbs and I paid $270 shipped to my door for a set off of a running '04 Connie.
