eliminator the emmissions

Come on all you newbies who are just joining. Please at least list a state when registering. I know I have addressed this before. If we have a club here it would be really nice to know who is in our area. You may meet a new friend and riding buddy or someone who can help you with your ride. What do you say guys, a little more info please. Furchin

I am getting rid of the emmissions on my bike, so far I have made plates to replace the reed valve covers and plugged the holes in the valve cover and all the air valve stuff is now in a box. I feel that after twenty something years the charcoal canister probably is doing what it was intended to.

(1) What do I do with the charcoal canister, can I get rid of it as well?
(2) There is a hose with what looks like some kind of filter attached to the airbox, what do I do with that?
(3) The two metal tubes coming from the fuel tank, plug em?
(4) Is there any good reason I should keep the canister and plumbing in place?
 
Only reason to leave that emission crap in place would be for a random epa inspection :rotf:

I don't think the epa needs to worry about the tailpipe emissions on our eliminators, what they should be worried about is the amount of tire smoke :225 :rotf:

Reed valves,, why do we need to block these off? wont blocking off the hoses do just as good?
 
I think blocking off the tubes would work just fine, but when your a metal worker why not make a pretty little cover and see no hoses. Sure looks clean on top, I just wish the rad hose was in a different place.
 
What do I do with the two ports on the carbs that were joined with a tee and went to the canister. I blocked them off and the carbs push fuel out the back. Are they vents? And what should I do about the tubes on the fuel tank?
 
Vent them into the atmosphere. I have mine bowl vents run up to the clips in the frame rails and they stop and evnt there. The tank vent goes down behiond the battery i think and just hangs there by the swing arm.
