Hey Bob, Had a Guy in IL Make me some Gold Sidecover "Eliminator" Stickers for my 1000, He used to sell them on Ebay but I have'nt seen him on there for a While,and like Mach said any Decent Decal Shop should be able to Print Them, Later Rocky :twisted:
 
I don't seem to be able to open the eps files....

I need the decals for the tank, repainting this winter (& removing dent)
 
Tank Decals

I have a few choices locally, where I can have this done.
I have seen some of their workmanship and some times they leave something to be desired.
My big concrn though, is the quality of the tape. My twenty year old decals look loike new. I've seen replacement, or duplicate decals that have shrank, and cracked after only a few years and even months.
That's kinda why I was hoping to get the OEM ones.
$$ isn't really the issue if the quality is there.

Have them installed before the clearcoat to protect them.
I have "Eliminator" on the tank and the ZL1200R on the sides.
 
Ron, you should be able to download the files directly from the website where it says download here. They are in ZIP format so you'll need something to unzip the package such as winzip then you will have the EPS files. You also may need a quality graphics program to view the actual EPS files as they are a format that a lot of stock "paint" programs won't read.

Bob, as well as waiting to clearcoat the decals, when having them made make sure the shop you use uses a quality vinyl tape. 3M makes some really nice stuff and there are all types and levels of quality.
 
I got the eps file (imported into ms word). But no tank decal just the side cover ones. What I need is the tank decals

Sticky Situation

Your right;

There's no sign of "Kawasaki" tank Decals.

What I did on the weekend was to take a "rubbing" of the decals right from my tank. I scanned the rubbing on to my computer. Saved it in Adobe Photoshop EPS format and oput it on a disc. I have taken it to "Autotrim Design" previously known as "Trimline" and they say they can dup. then for me, exactly, no problem.

Still though, I'd like the OEM Pt.# just to check out availability and $$.

Bbond, don't know if this is what you want but there are some stickers on ebay item#7916901935. There are also some someone printed on a few pages past where these are. Snake
 
That doesn't look like the right decals. The ones on my tank are outlined in silver and black (or clear) inside the letters.

Hey ron and Bbond,
I had my bike painted years ago and bought the stickers from the dealer. I have pictures of them still in the packages with the part numbers on them if you guys would like to see the pics let me know and I'll email them to you. I don't know if they are still available though as I've heard from others that dealers have told them they are discontinued.
The part number on the packages is:
56014-1038
There are other numbers on the packages as well so I'm not sure that is the actual part number. I have it all written down somewhere but that might be a good place to start. Later.
 
Please send me any pics & additioal info you may have. And yeah, the local Kawi dealer tells me that the are not available. Man, if someone would get a bunch made they could make a few bucks.

The decal and paint topic has come up many times before. This was posted in 2002 by a guy named "Rob" on another forum I believe - not sure if he is a member on this forum or not. These were posts that I copied and saved for the info. Read below:

Well, here are the results of some digging around over the past couple of weeks:

Paint: Found out the Luminous Red is no longer available through Color Rite! It was discontinued back in roughly '96, and all back stock has been sold. Turns out the color was only formulated in laquer, and because of its limited applications, a formula was never produced in the newer eurothane based products. Color Rite however, does offer a service of color matching an existing panel. They will polish a supplied panel, color match, and create a formula for it in a eurothane product (PPG based product). With all their past experience with the Kawi colors, it doesn't sound too unreasonable at a cost of $40.00. If you decide to go this route, they did suggest to wait until the fall, as it would take a while for them to get to it now, during their busy season. No info on the black. Sorry, I didn't ask. Color Rite's # 1-800-736-7980 & I spoke with Doug.

Decals: I spoke with Kawi's consumer affairs dept. last week on the decal situation. Here is what I found:

All the part #'s we got before were just off by the suffix # at the end (SP). The black Eli's decal # was superceded to the new # above. The larger LH "Eliminator" has been discontinued (probably because the right side is only 1/2" smaller - why carry an extra part). As far as the tank decals - there were only 3 black ones left in the US warehouse, and 1 of the red ones. No info was available on whether any more will be produced once they are gone.

Hope this helps anyone looking for the same info I was!

Red paint for ZL900

Just wanted to let you know that my painter found a very close match with the original red paint for the ZL900.
Funny enough it is called: Mitsubishi Red P64, it is metallic red with a pearl effect.
I hope to publish some pictures soon as seeing is believing.

Good to hear! As posted many times before, I will repeat for any that are new to the site: The origial paint (RED) for the Eliminator, was created by Kawasaki in lacquer. Not only that, but it IS a candy color as well! (gold metallic, with a transparent red top coat) Kawasaki has sold out of any stock they have had, and have never formulated the color in eurothane, due to the fact it has been only used on the Eliminator! As many of us have already tried, you cant get a spectrum analyzer to match candy colors, so we deal with the next best thing! I will be sending a part of my bike to Color Rite (supplier of paint to the motorcycle industry), and they said they will be able to make an exact match, and create a formula. I will pass along any info I get, when I finish with them.

Sorry for rambling, I just want to fill in anyone not knowing this, but wanting the original color.

One more piece of info that I found on the computer. This was sent to me by Rocky in 2003. Not sure if it has been posted or made known yet. I never contacted the guy that I can remember so I can't be of any help there. Might be worth a try if the email address is still valid. Later.

Hey Man, Finaly found the Adress for the Decals, its [email protected] Like I said hes Pretty Reasonable and I know for sure he has the Tank and Sidecover Decals, Not sure about the Wing, Drop him a Line and See
 
I have a set of the OEM decals for the Red and Black tanks. Sorry, will not part with, but if there are any #'s you guys need, let me know. I am the one that posted the reply a while back on another forum. Last I checked with Kawasaki Heavy Industries, that info still stands. If you try to get Kawasaki Heavy's Phone # in California, give them a shout to see if any of the decals are still available. I have found out that there are many dealers that don't want to deal with it!!

Rob, do you have a digital camera??? If you do you can take a good picture of the decal and send it to me and I can create a quality image file for reproduction of the decals. I just don't have a base to work from currently and the decals off of the bike like you have would be perfect to make the repro.
