Jetting a zl900 carb. w/ a zl1000 motor.... can it be done??

Hello again everyone!!

I got a question for anyone... I have a zl900 with zl1000 motor, ran great with the zl900 carb.... I am now going to a "Stage 3'' and I was wondering if I need to make any allowances for using the zl900 carb when I jet the carbs....

Any help would be appreciated..

Hey Jim, Dynojet or K&N makes a Spec Kit for the 900. The Dynojet Contains a Lot more Parts to do any Fine Tuning, Its a Little more than the K&N but you'll be sure you have Everything. Theres also Bigger Needles and Stronger Springs. Id go with the 900 Kit as its Specific to the Carb and Toy with the Main Jets, You could Probaly Go a Little Bigger, Later Rocky :twisted:

I have a Dynojet kit, I was just wondering if I had to make any allowances for the carbs being smaller... hope to save some time, vs. trial and error...

If thats all you have to worrry about than u got it good :cool10: It isnt all that big of a gap, to me it is just another part of this bikes interesting charm.

I ordered a bunch of small parts from Babbits including the collar for the rear tank mount, that might take up some of the gap. The collar is missing now which I think has the tank more forward than it should be.
 
careful of that gap

Rick was telling me he was riding "El Fresco" one day and got his left nut caught in that gap - what a pickle he was in. He had to ride to the fire station and get it out with the jaws of life.
