Pod filters and jet kit

I am thinking about putting a stage 3 jet kit and pod filters on. How hard is it to tune everything? Does a professional need to tune it or is it something i can do?

Also could i put pod filters on a stock setup without tuning anything?

Thanks

If it is running right you still may need to have the carbs sync'd

I just put the K&N Jet Kit on my 600 took about 1 hour. follow the directions.

Used EMGO chome filters for the outer carbs and UNI's foam for the inner.

Space is tight between 1-2 and then 3-4 but 2-3 space is fine.

You see the Chomed EMGO's and hared to see the black foam UNIs

Ran great. For the hour I rode it afterwards in 49 degree overcast in Ohio

If you dont have the Jet Kit try EBAY K&N has them for the ZL600 86-87 for 35 bucks and change in BUY NOW

Used stage 3 the PODS with stock pipes. Just got done changing all my hoses and vacumm lines they were looking sickly.

UNI's foam cost me 14 each the EMGO's chrome were 7 each pretty cheap bought 2 of each and still spent less than the K&N PODS

The kit has good instructions all the stuff you need just drill the right hole and then gotta do the fuel air mix adjust let me know if you have any questions

I am sure i can install the jet kit with instructions, but the only thing i have no clue about is syncing the carb. I will prolly wait till next year and have it done by someone who knows what they are doing. Thanks

Carbs

I would also like to know how you sync carbs. I know there is a tool that has I think mercury in it and you have to adj the fuel and or air flow? I would apprecite anyone here or PMing me with info also. Where do you purchase the tools also? Thank you and good question. Mr. Matt

me too

Yea me too. I was always wondering how to do that but thought it would be over my head. Any info would be great. Thanks

Hey Guys, Motorcyclist Mag has a Site, www.motorcyclistonline.com and under the "How To" on the Main Page you will find an Article on how to Sync Carbs. I think its on Page 2. Lots of Other Info on there Too for the "Shadetree Mechanics out there, Later Rocky

If your carbs are already sync'd then jetting them should not change them.

Jet them yourself it takes one hour then have them sync'd

Motion Pro has a carb sync tool for around 40 bucks needs no adapter for KAWS

Hi peoples,
Does anyone know what the difference is between an 1987 zl600 and a 2006 zl600 generator cover is?
They look the same on the Kawasaki site but the part numbers differ.
'87 - 14031-1192
'06 - 14031-1317
:detective:

cover

I hope you meant to say '96 model year and not 2006. The ZL600 was produced in '86 and '87 and then again in '96 and '97. You are correct about different part numbers but I can't think that they would be different seeing how the engine I believe is the same.

Kawasaki probaby just changed the part number. I have ordered many parts that have "new" numbers.

ZL1000 & GTR1000 are essentially the same engine but have different alternators (I take it thats what you mean by 'generator')because of the size of the battery.

You need to check the output of the alternator against the size of battery you are going to fit. The alternators, however should fit in the same casing.
