GTR down tubes?

MotorCycle Manuals, Once and for all...

I would like to end this discussion about manuals...

I know this comes up a lot, people wanting their manual, on CD not on paper as they currentlly have.
I even posted a vote for it in the website forum... (100% voted yes to posting manual in maint. section). I also see a lot of reply posts saying they heard someone had it, or ask so and so, maybe check ebay....

I have 2 of the 3 parts scaned in. I'd like to help end this by posting my copy here...

I have the Suplement Manual in PDF form also the microfiche in HTML format.

These cover:
ZL900-A1 Eliminator
1986 Kawasaki ZL900-A2
1987 Kawasaki ZL1000-A1
1988 Kawasaki ZL1000-A2 (UK)


I would like info on how I can upload these files to the maintenance section. Then people who have them can legally print off an extra paper copy, or a few pages here and there that they might need for a project. The total file size is about 130 MB. I have a cable modem at home so I can transfer that in a half hour or so...

I would also hope that one of the people who is rumored to have bought a copy of the main manual on ebay or wherever would upload it to complete the set. I would copy mine but my main manual is so deterated and oily that it wouldn't be worth trying to copy. It's missing a few pages also.

If anyone can let me know how to upload it would be much appricated..
And for anyone who has the main manual, I know you probably paid $20 for it but think how good you would feel knowing how many people you were able to help out...

Gehang, I have the ZL900 supplement, and main manuals as well as the parts fische in PDF however I haven't uploaded it to the site due to copyright restrictions. Kawasaki could have a field day with copyright infringement if they wanted to... got to keep the site legal and all.

If we could convince KHI to give us the rights to reproduce the manuals electronically through the site we would be straight however I think they may just want more money than anyone here is willing to put into that.

It's easy to say, just post it, however being the webmaster here I would also be liable....

Manauals

Kinda thought it would go this way, sure wish I could download all the info as I might stop asking so many questions. At least we have the bikes and the rest will come. :D
 
I can understand you not wanting to be liable. I just feel bad for all the people looking for electronic copies that don't have a scanner to scan theirs...

I guess the least I could do would be to offer people a deal. If you have a the suplement manual in paper form but want a copy on cd send me an email or a Im at yahoo msger: gehang or AIM: gehang
I'll send you a copy for postage only + $1 for the cd.. But you have to own the manual to get it...

On the other side, if anyone would be able to make me the same offer on the main manual which I own. It would be much appricated, I would really like an electonic copy for when/if mine becomes unusable....

So how is that the kawtriple site has a complete (44meg) pdf of the H series shop manual?
 
That is a good question, maybe the manual for the triple is out of print and they can get away with it??? I will look into this more as I know how beneficial having these manuals online would be.

Manuals online

I posed the the idea to buykawasaki.com and have not heard from them yet. I proposed that they, as a "Promotional idea", post the service manuals to be seen by anyone or to be downloaded or printed by anyone that has the bike. Why not show the service manual, they show you the parts diagram and the part number list. Are they trying to make it difficult for you to own this bike? Regular service is fine, but if a "customer" is able to do his or her own service then why not give them every advantage to use Kawasakis' information and knowhow. I mean, it can't be a lawsuit kind of thing, they sell the #@$% manual and there is no guarantee with that so what's the problem.

Just MHO and thanks for all the help and I appologise for my stupidity in the last week. I've been on this $#@^ computer way too long in the last week and have possibly tick off a few people with my lack of knowledge.

Has anyone tried to use GTR1000 down tubes on a ZL 1000?
I have seen some photos on ebay and they look something like - without collector box. Whick i think may be a dood idea - lose 14 lb in weight and have easier access to the underside of the bike. :detective:

Hope someone out there has maybe had a chance to compare the differnt headers over the years.

Sorry Vinny but they just won't fit. Different frame.
There is a viscious sideways bend in the ZL's 1 and 4 downpipes to avoid the frame. On the GTR the frame is well out of the way of the headers, so the pipes all have the same radius at the top.

I thought someone would have investigated this route before, so I wont have to spend time and money finding some GTR headers - only to find they wre no use.
