Hello Everyone - Finally In!

I have been reading the forums for a long time, but was never able to login and create a user name (program would not let me in). I thought I give it a try today after trying so many times...Yeeepeeee, I am finally in the forum.

Hey Gang,

One question I have been dying to ask in the forum is. Is there anyone in the U.S. that makes 17" wheels for the Eliminator 900/1000?

I know in Europe there are companies that make the wheels for the ZL. I have tried to contact them, but do not get replies. Maybe it's to expensive for them to deal with someone from the States?

welcome aboard, must have been frustrating reading these posts for so long "without a right of reply".

Yeh, I'd like to do the same, the ZL's wheels are a pain to keep clean/polished. Me thinks I read some time ago that the 17" VN1600 MeanStreak wheel/s will bolt on (if not both at least the rear). However I don't know if or what work needed to be done to the brake disc/calliper alignment. With regards to the front end, I'd be looking at the whole setup including the upside down forks.

I have a complete USD fork set up with rear wheel from a GSXR that I was going to install on my Suzuki GS1150. I think I rather install this set up on my ZL900. If I could only find someone to machine the rear wheel to fit the Eliminator shaft drive...

Rear Wheel

Hi Fern,
Cool looking bikes there, if you check out my website www.markzl900.tk you will see a complete photo guide on how my rear wheel (cbr900) was changed over to shaft drive. I'm sure you can find some one to do the machine work for you.

I like that site also, but did you notice the original spec sheet? Just a few items:

Measured top speed 128 MPH -- I had my first Eli way past that

Fuel consumption 35/28/31 (high/low/avg) -- Before I did the pods and jets, I averaged about 37. With pods and jetting, about 35. Not exactly easy riding either.

Did you also on markzl's site about modding the fuel tank? I need to buy a junk tank and experiment a bit before I hack up the Eli's tank.
 
Had to work at goodyear today, I was the only one all the other yahoos took the day off. Sweat literally running down my nutsack, sorry didn't mean to induce any visuals in your mind. Trying to free up a day to go riding. Thinking I may do some fabricating and mount some pods on the bike this winter. Will be needing an extra airbox to cut up as I don't like the look of the chrome missing. Jay
 
It was a real 'Nutsticker'.....I finally just scrapped it and went to the movies....BTW, Transformers is AWESOME!!!!!

lowlife, I will be making brackets this winter (or sooner if I have some down time) that will hold your pods in place and accept your covers if you have a 900. I have already started the R&D process and will use my bike for the prototype. Please don't destroy a good airbox, I would be happy to trade a set of brackets for it.

If one more person asks me "Hey....Hot enough for ya?" I'm gonna go on a tri-state killing spree....94 degrees and 95 % humidity is friggin' ree-dikkalus.....See????I burned my brain....

It's the monsoon season here and lately it's been raining every day. Fortunately for my neighbors, it's not an all day thing and only lasts for 30 min. to an hour but it pours. Some of my neighbors have to watch out for flooding but I'm high enough to not worry. When it's not raining though, it's fricken hot as hell and you sweat sitting in the shade.
 
woose's, come down under and feel some real heat, try 43c / 109f in the shade, 52c / 125f in the sun (thats what is was in the town of Yetman, not far from here when we were re-sealing the roads, last year). I that sort of heat you pick your nose and you break out in a full body sweat.

I worked in a wrecking yard in Sheparton a few years back. Nothing beats the heat of a car sitting in the sun in 42-44c, have no idea how hot it was in the car but damn that was some hard work.
