I rode my daughters 250 ninja for about 50 miles or so. Now this is like watching a monkey f@*k a football cuz I"m 6'3" and weigh 220.

THis was the first sport bike I have ever ridden but it was without a doubt the best handling bike I have ever ridden. Light and nimble, not so quick but the 250 wasn't designed to be. I rode through corners at 80 mph that the ZL wouldn't make at 70. Not knocking the ZL she still my favoritei I just think maybe I need a sport bike too, (keep the miles off the old gal). Unfortunately with a daughter going to college it may be several years b4 I could afford them. I will start researching however. Since I must always have one of the biggest and baddest bikes to sooth my ego it would have to be at least a 1000, was even looking at the hayabusa, but since I am foremost a kawi rider they have what looks to be a nice 1400cc I think. Ducati nice just too expensive for an unknown for me. Triumph nice, but parts may be an issue. BMW, SWEEEEET.

Opinions ? I notice several of you have sport bikes. How does your ZL fit into the equation?

If i was to buy a sport bike I would consider a sport tourer like the fjr, zzr, or the Concours 14

I got one word for you lowlife, ZRX.....Actually it's 3 letters.....And not a word at all....Just, look, remember this......ZRX!

Yea I seen a nice red one yesterday with a tour pac on it. Add that to my list, :D

If you are wanting quick & nimble then a 1000 is the wrong way to go. :nonono: The 400/600 class are MORE than a match for the heavy 1000's. The 1000's are mighty quick in a straight line but then you'll have an Eliminator for that......

I would have to go for the ZX14 or the Concours14, but that s just cause I am a Kaw die hard.
I rode my friends CBRR 600that was a VERY nice handling bike and STUPID fast too!

I dunno....I've met lowlife and I just see him on a ZRX.....Just my own opinion, take it for what it is worth.....Nothing, zip, zilch....NADA.....

i have personally owned in the sportbike catagorys :

KAWASAKI
NINJA

250
600
ZX-7RR
900

SUZUKI

GSXR 750

HONDA

VF700F INTERCEPTOR
VFR 700 INTERCEPTOR

all these bikes were good in their own way, but having a kawasaki dealer as a sponsor ( back in my racing days, ) i became a diehard kawasaki man. if i had to pick a sportbike for you, i would recomend a kawasaki ninja 600, or 750. if you go with a zx-7 you will definately need time to get used to the riding position. if you like your daughters 250, you'll love an older 600, between 1985--1991 ! comfortable to ride, lite enough to take some serious corners, & a price that wont empty your bank account.

as for my eliminator ! that is the best bike i have ever ridden ! sure !, it cant corner like the sportbikes, but a i get older,i still love the sportbikes, but everyone has them . i want to be different !!! CHRIS :cool10:

GO WITH THE BLACKBIRD TEN TIMES THE BIKE THE BUSA IS ASK ANY BUSA OWNER??? LOVED MINE TO BITS BUT170MPH NEW YEARS MORN SPELT THE END AND GOT SOMETHING MUCH MORE SENSIBLE LIKE A TRIUMPH ROCKET(yes they do go of the clock 140mph) NOT BIG NOT CLEVER ACTUALLY IT IS BIG AND CLEVER....STILL LOVE THE ZL THOUGH NOT A COMPLETE SELL OUT YET(still want another blackbird) ANDY

ZRX? haven't heard of that one b4 but I've never seriously looked at sport or sport touring b4.

I agree with the wanting to be different. I may look into a sport touring as suggested. I have a lot of time as my daughter doesn't start college till next year. She'll be costing 22k a year or several sport bikes... or one muscle car and 2 eliminators... or...

What is a blackbird. isn't that some sort of aircraft?

It will be something different and I guess it will need to be sensible as it will be a longer distance touring bike too. Wanna see the world on my street bike AND other parts of the world on my XT 600. Hope as I get older I can tour some foreign lands. Always wanted to do africa on a dual sport, not so sure since americans seem to be a potential endangered species in some places.

Crees boyfriend was on the 250 and cree and I were on the eli today, I actuallt had to get in the throttle today to run him down. Little bike is surprising with a little rider.

"I've met lowlife and I see him on a ZRX" Tell the truth you have met me and see me on a yamaha spree!!!!

Did Kawasaki release the 636 Ninja in the states?

If they did then I would recommend the 2002 A1P model. It's slightly bigger in the body than the newer Ninjas, but that made it a lot more comfortable for me. Still plenty of sportiness in the bike though. the A1P was the last one they used carbs in I think.

The ZRX is an awesome bike! Or you can go nastalgic and pick up a GPZ

i had a naked sv1000 that handles like a 600, plus its a vtwin, so with the right exhaust you can have a silencer or a deep rumvle, your choice. fz-1 and bandit were also great rides but the bandit was a touch heavier. both are excellent ergos though, i'm 6-1 210

Sat on a Yammi FJR? sport touring bike, very nice, after trying a few of the "rockets" I decided that It will definately have to be a sport touring. Sorry Andrew, didn't get to the kawi dealer today on the ride so no ZRX

:yeahthat: I say this coz i am a diehard kawasaki man ! CHRIS :cool10:

I've riden my brother's Yama FZ1 which is a nice bike for the price, but don't like having to worry about hitting the power band unexpectantly and end up riding a uni-bike because the front end it straight up in the air.

You can pick up a good used Ducati for a reasonable price these days. The Monster is a wonderful bike, not expensive for semi-exotic, lots of upgrades available, handles awesome and not alot of them around.
