Saddlebag pics?

I was just curious if any of you had, or had links to pictures of ZL900/1000 with saddlebags.

I'm trying to decide on what style to order and I'd like to see how some look on the bike.

Thanks!

Mr Kawasaki made a set specially for the Eliminators with proper cutouts round the grab handles and everthing, but I've only ever seen one set on Ebay, never seen them on a bike and I'm pretty darn sure that they would not be available any longer :( :( :(

Saddlebags

Yeah, I saw that set on Ebay about 1 yr ago. Went for like 100 bucks too, Brand new never used. I was gonna bid on them but I figured why bid on them knowing I wouldn't use them. I guess maybe I should have grabbed them because I also saw a nice smoked windshield for the bike too. Oh well, Not really my style.

LOL""  .....yeah,i went to use my ol'saddlebags after i got my ZL1000.........oopppppssssss.....Bloody grab rails!!!!....

youd need a set with straps you can undo etc.......

or just get a leather shop to modify a set??........

Yeah ... I saw the set 'specially designed for the Eliminators on eBay too!!
I missed out on bidding on them ... had been watching them and was just about ready to bid and my computer died!! I lost the hard drive ... so I missed the bidding AND I lost the photos of the bags themselves as well :(
Have never seen another set since!!

I do have a set of "bags" here that I got "cheap" off eBay that I'm going to cut/alter to fit the grab rails like the "Eliminator" ones that were on eBay ..

http://www.blackroseleathers.com.au/australia/saddlebags.htm

Scroll down the page ... to "Item SB8" .. the ones with the eagle on them.
They're a decent sized bag .. hold heaps and have "rain-covers" in a zippered pocket in the top flap of the bags.

I'll have to move the indicators .. I've noticed on different photos of the ZL1000's that some bikes have their indicators mounted on the rail right below the backrest/grab-rail .. and other pix I've seen show the indicators mounted either side of the rear mudguard?? Don't know if this is one of the subtle differences between the ZL1000-A1 & ZL1000-A2 if any????

I also have a small pair of bags, "el-cheapo" ones, that I throw on for short runs .. http://people.aapt.net.au/~ralaw/SC_Bags.JPG

That pic was taken just after I got them ... the joining strap/flap actually splits into two and slips either side of the grab rails and across under the seat so they fitted okay.
One of the closing straps on each bag has broken though now .. cheap crappy leather. I've replaced the straps with bits of black leather dog-collar that I cut to length and riveted in place of the old straps .. (woof woof)

Edit: Fixed dyslexic typos

hey Ross,I just saw your dog getting taken away by the local council!!!!............    .......

saddle bags

Elmo, I have saddlebags on my eli's. They are willie&max SB707B braided slant bags. The bags look good on the bikes I think. You have to cut the mounting flaps that tie bags together in order to custom fit under the seat but it is not a big problem. If you want send me an e-mail or shoot me a pm with contact info and I can send you a pic or two. Furchin

Take a look at these $60 Rjays Touring Saddlebags I bought from Motorcycle Accessories Supermarket (Parramatta) on 07July06:

The marketing propaganda goes:

Super heavy duty Ballistic nylon,
Adjustable heavy duty velcro retaining straps,
Dual buckles on each saddlebag to ensure your luggage stays put, and
Large velcro weatherproof seal with two retaining clips to keep your luggage dry.

They were actually quite good. I had them strapped under the grab rails/seat so they sat about 10mm above the exhaust (on the trip home one side was contacting the can but didn’t burn/melt). Also, I didn’t have time to wrap the shock springs in plastic (ice cream container lids etc) so they was no chaffing protection on the inside of the bags, never mind no problems.

As you can see they are as big as can be in height and length (indicators/pillion pegs). They are about 360mm(L) x 400mm(H) x 200mm(D) or 14”x16”x8” which made for a bucket load of clothing so the washing was left for the wench when we got home. I know they won’t win any fashion parades (no smart remarks about us either fellas) but for practicality and value I thought they were the ducks guts.

just get some really big Pockets sewn into your jacket??........ 8O

Thanks for all the replies... Got some good ideas... Now I just need to cough up a little money to buy some :) ... Replacement shocks coming in a week or so, think bags will be my next purchase!

Those huge nylon bags would be great if I ever get the nerve to try a long roadtrip on the bike, definately gunna keep them in mind. I think for now though I'm going to go with a set of smaller leather bags. Good for daily use, and keep the bike lookin' nice for around town.

Anyways.. It's dinner time.. Thanks again!

Need a regulator/rectifier for it, I'm sure several will fit, hoping someone herre can help.
Also I think I talked my wife into buying a zl600 for her. (HER midlife crisis) Also fasted talked my way into possibly buying "cheap" 900 and 1k zl's. Mainly 1500 and below. Possibly more for the right bike. if you guys have a lead and can't swing it yourself, tell me. Appreciate it. Not sure how many I can afford but I'm thinking of selling some other toys to buy these. Fun plus not a bad investment.

Man, you are one luck son-of-a.....Nevermind......Lemme know if you need help there, bro, and I'll be seeing you soon...
moab...
