Ignition advance

Does the ZL1000 have a mechanical advance or digital? does the advance been known to cause trouble? Also what is the redline on engine RPM the redline on my tach is 10,500 but reading some some specs on the net it is 110hp @ 9,000 I am kinda confused. I down loaded a GPZ 900 manuel it dont show nothin on timing though I feel i am losing some power somewhere just cant find it lol

You might wanna contact Dale Walker at Holeshot (website is www.holeshot.com)...I bought a "Power Package Kit" for my '85 ZL900...they also sell one for the ZL900.

I installed it on my ride...accelerates like a mofo now!

One of my buddies from years ago had a ZL1000 and his rev limiter kicked in right about 10K, maybe a little more. The spark advance is electrically controlled but you can get a 5 deg timing advance plate that bolts to the crank trigger.

Okay I may have found some of the power loss, I turned out the idle screw out a full three turns dramatic difference in throttle responce if the seat wasnt shaped the way it is i belive I think the bike would run out from under ya LOL!!!! Thinking about putting washers under the needles giving a little richer mixture. Also getting tire presssure up helped handling, waiting for wind (20 to 30) and temp (105) to go down and see what it will do topend now! LOL

What's wrong with the seat? I dunno, ribbed for your pleasure I guess.

It is hideous looking but the rest of the bike makes up for it. If I didn't have so many other things going right now, I would drive down and have a look.
