Custom Eliminator pics (2)

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and wanted to say hi to and introduce myself. Over the last couple years I have been busy finishing a '71 240Z with a 327 small block and have been looking for a new project to get into. I've been missing not having a bike and always liked eliminators, then I saw this pic and really got hit by the looks of this ZL900 with a ZRX1100 gas tank and raked pipes, thought I'd share and see what you guys think:

It looks as though the tank will fit if the seat is shortened and the pipes required a custom aluminum peg plate, I'm sure I'll be around more as I am getting close to buying one in the Norhtern California area. Does anyone know who the owner is?

Hi Brett,
the owner is a German guy and I have 4 more pics of the bike as it looked like before(with spoiler/belly pan). I don't upload pics from others without permission but don't know this guy, so if you wanna see them just email.

That looks sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!! How do you mount one of those tanks?
 
As for mounting the tank, both bikes may have a similar frame structure(I won't know until I get my hands on one) so mounting the gas tank may not require much modfication. It probably won't take much to do it even if a new mount needs to be made to fit. Time will tell. :mrgreen:

If I may digress a bit, very nice “Classic Avatar” you have there, and quite familiar I might add. Athough, I am somewhat off topic, …I simply could not resist commenting on the commonality, and similar trains of thought at work here… :oops:

…This is, without a doubt, one classic film everyone should take the time to see at least once in their lifetime, definitely considered one of Stanley Kubrick’s best “cultural shock” films, ever. Even though it’s a tad bit over 30-years old now, it is still undoubtedly a classic film that nobody should miss. I for one will certainly never forget it, for obvious reasons, it is certainly a favorite. Next rainy day, I may just have to revisit this classic.

It seems like ages since I last saw this classic movie, “A Clockwork Orange”, however, I do remember it well, especially Alex drinking milk-plus, at the now infamous, Korova Milkbar, “slooshy well”! :lol: And of course, who could ever forget these lines, “a bit of the old, in-out, …in-out”. :o Of course, there is always the less direct approach to the same inspiration…as in…

…"Got Milk" !!! :mrgreen:

I`ve got an`03 ZRX tank for sale(in primer) $100 + del.
and I`ve got some repairables also if anyone is interested.
 
I may be in the minority here but I like the looks of the stock tank ALOT better. If you want a bike that looks like that, there are some bikes that already look similar.

I really like the stock tank too.

I like to keep on open mind though. I like the idea of customizing a bike much like you would a car or pick up.

There's nothin' like an original 69 Big Block Camaro, but man you can't help but admire one that's been tubbed and blown, with an awesome coat of trick paint.
 
I like the looks of the stock tank but the range sucks.
I do a lot of long distance rides and stopping for fuel every
90 mi. is a pain in the ass.
 
Hey Brett, You can use the Stock Muffler Mount, You just need to Redrill Them, Muffler Swings with the Mount. If you dont want to Drill Your Stockers I have a Few Laying Around that I could Let go Cheap, Later Rocky :twisted:

With 5.3 gallons in the tank, I like the range and tough looks. I really haven't seen another bike made that had this tank style with a dragbike-looking rear, they usually go for a more sporty look out back.

I'm digging the blend of the two styles, very different but complementary to the eliminator's lines. Now all I need is an eliminator...

Just a quick word about the subject.

If you've got an original bike in near to immaculate condition, I personally wouldn't want to see it chopped up, and twisted in to something barely recognizable as an Eliminator.
However, there are several bikes out there that have been abused or wrecked and cannibalized that can and deserve to be reincarnated.
That's my two cents. :D

That's just the condition I'm looking for, I couldn't hack up a nice one either. :)

I'm curious about a couple of details.
What kind of tank is this? It looks like a ZX9 tank, but I may be mistaken.
Also, the front end assembly looks like it is likewise off of a ZX9.
Do you know where this picture originated?
I'd appreciate a little info.
I'd like to perhaps adapt a couple of these ideas to suit my ZL9.
Nothing permanent, as I'd like to have my bike in original trim for the future.

Tank is from a ZRX and the frontend looks like Gixxer stuff.
