curious as to how many miles I might get out of mine, and who has the record for the zl with the most milage.

if you have more than one ride you may select more than one answer.

If you have one with alot of miles on it, some info as to what work was required and at what mileage may be of use to other members in planning their ongoing maintenace

I have 64K on my 1000. Nothing more than routine maintenance. Runs great, no oil usage, 38 mpg.

64k --wow! and I was worried about 30k !

my zl 9 has 14,135 and my zl1 has 29,826

hey kawboy... any major work done??
at what mileage??
how many of those are your miles?

Guess I should have paid more attention to the poll befere voting! I didn't realize it was multiple choice! My ZL1 is about to turn 31K and is starting to show signs of weak valves/rings an occasional puff of the black smoke, although that could also be signs of burning a little rich since it only does it upon hard acceleration. (Not like that happens very often) I have never needed to add oil but then I change it way more than needed!
The ZL9s have 8.5K, 12.5 and around 16.

My 900 has just over 23,000 miles on it...I have had it for about a year and a half, not really sure what was ever done to it...I have only done carb stuff to it...

My 1000 I just bought 6 months ago...It has just over 60,000 miles on it...From what I understand the original owner had a valve job, cam chain and exhaust gaskets done somewhere between 40k-50k..I think the guy I bought it from mentioned clutch too...He was second owner, I am the third..I believe I am getting between 35-38 mpg...It starts, rides and pulls like a new one...completely stock

My zl9 has 23k and some change too.I'm pretty sure it had a rough life.Just by the way it looked when I got it.I know the local dealer went through the tranny, new clutch too. That was about 3yrs ago.I'm pretty sure it will need the timing chain guides(maybe chain). It sounds a little noisey to me.It could use a carb sync.It was clean on the inside, when I adjusted the valves.Seems to run good no smoke or anything.I would think with decent care this motors should last a while.

Ummm, can we have an option for "Haven't got a clue"? When I got my ZL900 it had an aftermarket clock on it, which has since been changed, so I don't know how many it had before the first clock change, or how many were showing on the aftermarket speedo before it was put on, etc.

I know I've done about 10k miles in the last couple of years since getting it.

mine has 22,671 :hello2: runs like a top I did put a new cam chain in two years a go at 21,000 I do an oil change every year, and start her up every couple of weeks and ride around the block or to church and up to the hills for lunch when I'm feeling good , with the way my back is I can't do long ride's any more on anything but the road king its an '03 and has just over 20,000 mile's my '06 Z1k has 24,000 and the '08 Raider has 6,078
but I did put 118 mile's on her Sunday:thumbsup: the bike had 12,??? on it when I got so I put 10,+-? in the four years I have had her not bad seeings how I only ride the ZL9 on Sunday's ...LOL..

When I bought Hellion he had 13,783 miles on him (if they didn't change the odometer! * I don't trust stealerships!*) He now has 15,883 miles and if I can get him running again in time for friday we will add probably another 7 to 800 miles to that! I havent had much time or money to give him the good going over I usually give new to me vehicles, and made the mistake of trusting the stealership I bought him from for being honest about his condition to begin with. So when I get the time and money I will be going over him with a fine toothed comb. but otherwise so far I've changed the oil and need to rebuild the water pump had to replace and rebuild the front forks replaced handle bars, heated up and rebent back into place the foot pegs and rear brake pedal, replace the junction box, put new brake pads on the front......Ummm think thats all so far!

My 1000 has about 68k on it. My old speedo died two summers ago and I bought one off a 900, the faceplate was a bit different than the 1000's so this winter I bought a 1000's off of ebay that showed 42k. I tried to hook a drill up to it to spin it to the correct mileage (probably the first time somebody has added miles with a drill) but it would have taken three days. I spun it to about 20k short, so it now reads 48k.

Knew a guy one time who had big miles on his bike. Before he sold it, he decided to cut some miles off of it so he connected a drill to it, ran it in reverse. Sure enough, the odometer ran backwards. He shaved about 10k miles off the clock before he f*cked up the clock permanently. The plastic cogs and wormdrive in the mechanism didnt like to be driven in reverse at 80MPH...:rotf:
