motorcycle oil???

Popping spark plug wires.

I have a new problem that you guys might help me solve. Got the bike out, charged the battery and got her running good but after I hopped on it going down the road I noticed she started sounding like an engine miss. So I check the plugs, notice wire # 1 was loose. So tonight took her out again and sure enough after hopping on her she started missing again. Same thing wire #1 and #3 were loose. Pushed them back on, rode around the block again, hopped on it, came back, same thing, wire #1 and #3 were loose again.

Any ideas, sure don't see it mentioned in the owners manual.
 
You might need some new "O" rings around the wire put new rubber ones on mine they stay in.

70 and sunny saturday Started her up today and she purred. Ready to ride her around.
 
Had this a while back and was discussed in another thread but I can't find it now.
I think there are 2 possible causes

1)Moisture down the plug recess, which warms up and expands when the engine gets warm.(a bit far fetched on No. 3 cylinder but an outside possibility on No. 1)

2) The spark plug itself is not seated properly and gasses from the cylinder are escaping into the plug recess and eventually build up enough to pop the lead.

Just a thought but check to see if the plugs are tightened correctly and that the seating face is not damaged or rusted (Especially No.1, where sometimes there is a build up of water)

This is common on the ZRXs and it`s always some water down
there that does it.
 
I had someone tell me today that I should not use regular automotive grade oil in my bike, that it lacks some ingrediant for the clutch. Which brings me to another question, how about oil additives such as lucus. And speaking of clutches should I soak my new friction plates in oil before I install them?
 
There is another thread here about the MC oil vs auto oil. I just changed mine, bought Castrol MC oil at Wallyworld for $2.69 Qt.
I believe just coating the clutch plates is sufficient.
 
I was advized by Dale Walker to use MOBILE ONE Synthetic 20-50 "they guy has run the **** out of some eliminators for a long time and is now running the **** out of busa's... I trust him for what thats worth
 
Run automotive castrol or valvolene in my bikes for years with no problems. Even ran auto trans fluid a couple years. Didn't go syn. untill I put turbo on my Busa. Ran the Busa for a year with regular oil till turbo.
 
If Mobile One is good enough for Dale Walker, it is good enough for me!
 
i have always used automotive CASTROL GTX in all my bikes thoughout the years, in my streetbikes & racebikes, & have had no probloms. i don't like synthetic oil ! tried it one time in my IROC Z28, when she was new, & burned the motor up, so will never even attemp synthetic in my bikes. CHRIS

FWIW, synthetic will never allow rings to seat and will burn oil like you said, cro-moly rings being the exception. Once the rings seat, synthetics are fine to use.
