fuel tank/mileage?

How many miles can be expected for a 900 eliminator tank before switching to reserve? How may miles can be expected after switching to reserve? I only got 67 miles on my first tank of gas before I had to switch to reserve, is this normal? Thanks from a new owner/member :D 8O
 
The cold reality

In a single word....."YUP!"

It's an 11 litre tank.
9 in the on position.
3 in reserve.

about 65 miles on the main side.
18 in reserve.

The're a gas pig.
But my Gawd they sure do rip.
 
I babied it to work and got 36mpg. Now its does not like the upper RPM range, maybe the plugs are fouled? Do these foul plugs?
 
Ahhhhh,Ive got 300 CCs and 40 HP more.
We`ll see what I get when it`s done. :lol:
 
My 600 was getting better mpg's before I jetted the carbs now she is sucking fuel like a 73 Crysler Newport 4 door. (?)

Whole lot lighter and better looking than a land yatch but she does kick asphalt.

I am gonna take her out tomorrow and actually see how many MPG's I get before hitting reserve.
 
I noticed that the gearing is really low on this sucker so I wonder if highway driving is going to suck down the gas? It's real hard to stay out of the throttle on these things though :D

I just smoked a Yamaha. The guy was reving and coming up to the light he was popping wheelies. Light went green and I was gone.

It is kinda nice having a little sleeper "cruiser" the sportbike boys think it must be some old Kaw 454 or such. Then wham they are toast.

Seriously. I would have bought a 900 but the 600 was available for 400.00
and now I have time invested in her.

First this than found a Ninja 600 '85 for 250.00 but let my buddy take that.

Then found a 750 honda Interceptor for my boss at 700.00 so I can find the cheap prices, just not on bigger bikes.
 
Just remember you don't need a big bike to get yourself into trouble! 600cc will kill just as fast as 1000cc or more. There have been two bike deaths in my area in the last week. The cars dont watch or drive bike defensive so watch out and ride safe :D
 
Everyone is measuring........... :roll: ..........Back to the original post, I get about 100 miles on my 600 before I hit reserve.
 
Gas Mileage

My 1000 with a 1083 kit mileage cant be too good .I ve never sat and figuired it out but its not so great.My only two complaints on my zl1000 is the gearing,i alwalys want another gear after sixth,and the gas tank/mileage is too small.But i love the bike.
 
100 miles to reserve on my 1000 if you drive it steady :(









But who wants to get 100 miles out of a tankfull :twisted: :lol:

My Oz model ZL1000 (2 turns out on the mixture) consistently gets 198-205km or 122mls before I hit reserve whether I be touring 1200km or around town (no burnouts or wheelies) to and from work (22km each way no choke). I haven't had top push it yet so I can't say what the reserve will give me.

What kills me is not so much the mileage but the loan application fees I'm up for every time I fill 'er up ($120.9/ltr for premium unleaded, it pings on normal unleaded).

I'll sell the house before I let go of the bike...

Rocket, you gotta be kidding at $1.20 a litre even at Aussie dollars. :lol: I was thinking it was bad at $2.00 a gallon in the US and it's 52 cents a litre US here in Thailand now and the Thais are freaking. Still gonna ride myself though. :lol: :lol:
 
From what I read it looks like the 1000s get better mileage! I thought the 900 would do better than the 1000. My 900 gets about thirty if I drive sensible and thirty six if I drive it like a nun but then the bike needs blown out or it runs badly. If I drive it hard it gets down in the low twenties. My bike really likes to be ran, it seems to do better if you flog it a good amount of the time :D
