Hi y'all.
I'm a new member here but not new to the ZL900. I've recently just purchased my 2nd ZL (view gallery for photos) and would like to say Hi to all other Eliminator owners on this site.
I'm in Ontario, Canada and am the proud new owner of a U.S. model ZL900 in Luminous Red, totally stock. 22K miles. This one I will not let go and will most likely be buried with me!!
I've had the bike for a few months now and really haven't needed to do much cleaning to it but did let out a little elbow grease here and there. With recent trips to bike shops here and there with my brother ( another ZL900 lover soon to be a 2nd owner as well ) we were looking at some of the modern, yet unappealing, bikes and came across an idea.....
I'm thinking of getting some of the aluminum powder coated black matte. 2 reasons. I don't want to spend valuable riding time polishing aluminum lol, and I am thinking doing this will give the bike a more modern look without sacrificing the stock look which I love so much. I am a little conflicted but think I'm going to try it in small steps and see how it turns out.
My plan is to do the Sissy Bar first then see how it goes. If it looks good, then I"ll do the 2 pcs next to the foot pegs, ignition cover, handle bars stems, fork brace and forks. Anything aluminum. Chrome will remain chrome and tach/speedo housings will remain as well.
I'm going to go forward with the sissy bar soon and will post pics for review.
Just saying Hi to all and looking forward to your feedback on your thoughts.
