OK if nobody wants to talk about bikes what?

Cars, boats, beer, chicks what does it take to get more than the few regulars into a thread. Most of us cant ride so whats up? I did a 30 degree ride a week and a half ago and everyonte thought I was nuts but I NEEDED a ride on the ELI. Where is everyone else? on the Honda site?

Hey Miniking, Cars and Boats I dont know **** about BUT Bikes and Beer thats a Different Story?????I'm on #12 [Bikes that is] Started on Yamahas, DT 175 in "78 went to XT500, XS750, Then its been KAWASAKI all the Way, H1 500, H2 750x 2, Z1, Z1R, GPZ 550, GPZ900, GPZ 1100 and Last but NOT LEAST THE 1000 ELIMINATOR. Most of the Bikes I had for a Year or Less, Only new one was the 84 GPZ 900, Which was only New for 3 Days before I "TOOK ALL THE FIBERGLASS and Plastic off it" Still have the Scars??? MOST FUN BIKE was Definatly the H2, Bang for the Buck Bike GPZ1100, BIKE I'd KEEP My ELIMINATOR, Hey its a Conversation Piece, A lot of Guys think its a Newer Bike, When I tell them it's 16 Years old they ****.Well thats my History How about the Rest of You, Later Rocky.
 
Whats up?

Well I have been into cars, trucks, bikes and beer for a few years now. My first bike was a Yamaha 550 maxim which wasn't a lot of fun but it was a good first bike. The second was a 1978 Suzuki GS750(not much more fun), Then came the Kawasaki KZ900 drag bike which was a lot of fun but, not on the highway, and in June I sold that to purchase my 1987 ZL1000 which is so far my favorite. As for the cars and trucks the list is too long, mostly Chevys with either smallblocks and a couple of bigblocks which are much more fun. My toys now are as follows, a 1987 ZL1000, A 1982 Chevy one ton stepside dually which is totally custom and in storage for the winter months, a tubbed out 1967 Camaro whith a BB chevy just like the truck, and my wife a hot little red head that is full of piss and vinager. And six cans of MGD in the fridge, no wait make that five I just went empty. The ELI is the best bike that I have had by far. I like to ride my neighbors Harley some but it doesn't have the power of the Eli. I would love to have a Hog, but I would need one that is fast and that is further out of my budget than I can even look forward too.

Let me see, I got into bikes with a brand new Yammie FZR600. While it was a fun bike, just not enough attitude or POWER. I picked up a pair of bikes (82 Honda CB550sc and a Kawi KZ650) from a junk dealer which led me to the VJMC (vintage japanese motorcycle club). While I was with them the current president had a bike shop in Ohio that he was selling and was selling off the bikes he had in stock at great prices. Out of curiosity I checked out the stock and lo and behold there sat a Eli 900. I hadn't heard of it before but soon as I saw the one crappy digital pic online I fell in love! A few emails later and I was on my way to Eli ownership. My down payment on the bike was buying a Sabre V4 motor from a shop in Atlanta (which he needed). About a week later I drove to Asheville NC with the Sabre motor to meet him and get my Eli. 4:00am I returned home with her and I took her for a spin (even though the temp was below 0, even in GA) Rode her for a while.... then ran out of fuel.... my first experience with the tiny 900 tank. Walked home and got the car to fill her back up, walked back and rode her home. Just in time to go to work :)
Oh yeah, I also have a '72 Triumph Trident in the garage....

Chicks: Married one, she didn't like the fact I liked bikes and found out she COULDN'T change me and she left. Oh well, more money for the Eli :)

Beer: Great stuff... nuff said

Cars: Currently have 1980 Triumph TR7 DHC, 1986 Firebird (new to me project car), and a 1993 Maxima that is my daily driver until the 'bird is reliable enough to replace the Max.

Hello all,
I started off on a 1988 Kawasaki KLR250 dual sport (used), then sold it for a used 1989 KDX200, then went through 2 more KDX200's before switching to the KDX220's of which I'm on my 2nd or 3rd one of those. As for street bikes, my first was the 1988 KLR dual sport, then a used Yamaha FZR1000 Genesis. Traded the FZR for a 1985 ZL900 which had been "rode hard and put away wet" then traded it for another 85' ZL900 in much better shape which I have owned for about 13 years. The last bike I bought for myself was a 2 month old 1996 Suzuki GSXR 1100 (I loved that bike). Those were my main bikes for myself. I've owned a ton of other bikes that I bought for rebuilding and selling - winter hobbies. Other bikes I've owned off the top of my head - 1990 Kawasaki ZX600, 1994 Kawasaki ZX900R, 1994 Honda CR250, 1994 Honda TRX300EX, 1990 Yamaha YZ125, 1987 Kawasaki KX80 - too many to list.

As for vehicles here's a short list: 1978 (I think) Chevy Monza, 1975 Chevy Nova, 1985 Chevy Z28, 1988or9 Chevy Camaro IROC, 1990 Chevy IROC, 1978 Ford F150, 1982 Jeep Scrambler, 1999 Chevy Silverado, 1974 Chevy C100. In 1998 I sold everything I had including all bikes (except the Eliminator) to buy the then new 1999 Chevy truck - big mistake - I'll never do that again - learned my lesson the hard way - I'm still recovering financially from that brain fart - new vehicles are nice but they are not worth the money.

As for beer: Please don't throw me out of the club (hahaha) but I'm not much of a drinker - never developed the taste for beer. Don't get me wrong, after working in the yard or sitting on the mower for 3 hours on a hot summer day, a Corona tastes really good. When I drink, it's usually Corona, Coors, or Heineken. I've really never tried much else so I don't know what is out there. As for the hard stuff, I like Southern Comfort and Coke and for the winter, the occasional hot chocolate with Butterscotch Schnapps. Working the night shift, I really can't do much drinking unless it's on weekends, and I'm usually too busy to mess with it.

As for chicks: Love 'em, hate 'em. I've never been married, only dated a few for very short periods of time. Most of the females up around here that I've met, seen or heard about aren't worth the air they breathe. I don't mean to offend anyone, but we've all heard the expression "Trailer Trash". That seems to be the lifestyle most everyone around here strives for. Man I hate Indiana - horrible weather, worthless women, and nothing to do - complete wasteland.

I like the water but have never owned a boat, only been on one a few times. Kind of a waste around here - only a couple of months you could use one and you would have to drive for hours to get to a very crowded place to use it.

Currently I own: 1974 Chevy C100, 1999 Chevy Silverado, 2001 KDX 220R, 1985 ZL900, 1996 Yamaha Timberwolf 4x4(being repaired possibly to keep or maybe to sell).

Dreamworld:
truck - Hummer or GMC Denali with Quadrasteer or my Jeep Scrambler back,
car - Lamborghini or Corvette,
bike(s) - Eliminator, too many others to list :o ,
dirt bike - KDX's or maybe someday a KTM,

I love my 600. I have owned around 20 bikes and none was as much fun as my zl. I had a 750 honda that came close. But nothing looks, sounds, and rides like it. Mines been modified with custom exhaust, stage 3 jetting/filters, and a nice paint finish. Everywhere I ride, people ask me about it. How many 1987 motorcycles are ridden daily? (weather permitting) I am often asked if its new, which says something for elim styling. I used to work as a motorcycle mechanic and rode almost every street bike made. Lots of them were fun, but there is something special about zl's.
 
Well as an interesting side point, I know the site is not completely dead of visitors and such because with 83 registered visitors, most of the pages on the garage have been visited over 150 times...
 
Wish list

Lets see where do I start? I would wish for a Chevrolet Avalanche 3/4 ton or a one ton if they decide to make one that would be better, and I am not much of a Corvette guy so I would I guess I would want something really flashy like a Ferrari, The bike parked next to my Eliminator would be a(and I know you will probly want to kick me for this) Ducati 900 Monster. My brother had one all tuned up with exhaust, big bore, clutch, and a set of twin plug heads modified by himself. As for the chicks that would be a long list containing the likes of Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta Jones and lots and lots of others. And Santa this completes my Christmas list for this year I think that I have been a good boy so please leave whatever toys wont fit in the house outsind and leave the keys under the doormat. Side point

Another interesting point is I wonder what happened to the 61 or so members that have not made one post or reply since they have joined. I wonder where they are? Maybe at the north pole waiting to grant all of our christmas wishes!!! Lets all hope and add the warm weather to my list as well. Its too darn cold in MN.

I see dreams aren't in short supply around here... I think Kawasaki should build a 2000cc Eliminator w/a 230 rear tire, fuel injection, nitrous & Ohlins front & rear suspension standard. It should also cost the same as the ZL 1000 cost new in 1987. $4899.00. It should also have an oil cooler and awesome brakes! I don't know about you guys, but I like the shaft drive, with perhaps a beefier & longer swingarm & driveshaft. Maybe a single-sided swingarm w/ under-tail exhaust. While I'm at it, that fancy Mean Streak fat bob tank looks nice. Headwinds sells a cool HID headlight too! Cooler sleek turn signals & billet controls would be nice...Whoo! I better catch my breath!
 
VMAX's

By the way boys, a stock 900 Eliminator will spank a VMAX all day long, poor rider notwithstanding! Yamaha incredibly enough, at least had the foresight to see that it was an awesome platform, (the PowerCruiser I mean), & kept improving it ever-so-slightly over the years. I wish Kawasaki would've had that same vision instead of making 125's & turning our love into a frickin Honda Rebel! Imagine what 17 years of Eliminator development could've yielded with the commonality of Kawasaki parts interchanging so nicely... Oh to be the decisionmaker at Kawasaki for a year...
 
Why?

Why did Kawi totally kill the Eliminators? And Honda the V65's? It seems that they felt the need to compete with HD and concentrate on the V twin engines. But why? I wonder that if Honda and Kawasaki had kept it up what they would be like and how many new Vmax owners would have bought either one. Sure seems like Yamaha did the right thing because if you want a new musclebike today you have no other choice but the VMax unless you want one of the plastic wrapped bikes? What would the new Eli's be like I wonder!!

Hmmm.... 2004 Eliminator.... This is my take on what it would actually be had Kawasaki had the right mentality to develop the beast.

Number one it would have a ZX12 derived engine, with shaft drive plus taking some ideas from Yamaha (in their roadstar warrior) it would also have USD forks and brakes that were stolen off of the ZX as well.... Ram air fed box from a funnel under the headlight and of couse two huge shorty megaphone mufflers.... Styling wouldn't change that much however I think they may have developed something bigger than the 900s current tank size....

However maybe they have rebirthed the Eliminator in a completely different hide aka the Z1000.
 
2004 Eli

As now I have thought about it for a little while here is my idea. Something like the 1200 motor, I would like to see a longer wheelbase with a chain drive, and like a 250 series tire (as long as we are hypothetically designing this), Inverted front forks, very large dual front disc brakes(i.e. the ninja's), low style dragbars, very small blinkers, low center of gravity and two nice looking chrome pipes to round out the combination. Long, low sleek and powerful, with the stopping power to match. Maybe a little larger tank than even the 1000 but not so large that it looks out of place. And plenty of aftermarket bolt on's which we have been lacking because the Eli's were only a three year run. Turbo's, NOS, wheels, sprockets. I know the shaft drive is low maintenance but the chain drive is much more efficient. And a main color of black with other options. If Kawasaki is listening PLEASE you killed a unicorn! Bring it back.Convert some of these Yamaha VMax riders back to the real bike manufacturer. Team Green all the way. I love my Eli but man if I could buy a brand new one!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hey Miniking, Sorry I have to go with The Shaft instead of the Chain no matter what Size Engine, Dont know if you have ever been Behind an Eliminator when it Launches[ Remember this Jarney????] But the Tire and whole Rear of the Bike Raise UP, Looks just like a Dragster taking off from the Line. I'm with you on the Boltons "BUT" look what the Euro Boys are Doing, Make them Yourself, Just got my HESA grill Cover, Will post some Pics when I get it on, Later Rocky.

Hey miniking, that's why I'm doing all those mods to mine, by using that Concours swingarm it pushed my rear wheel back an inch, which ain't much, but I bet it'll have a significant effect. I tightened up the clearances on the swingarm mount dowels so there'd be no slop when I take corners. The rear shocks being gone really cleans up the appearance of the back of the bike. I love my '01 GSXR 1000 front end and ZX-12 rotors. The six piston calipers that came with GSXR forks are nice too... I got all that stuff off of Ebay in perfect shape, can you believe it? I was working 63 hrs a week of overtime at my job this summer to gradually get the stuff to make the changes. I can't wait to paint it. Putting that Mean Streak rear wheel, caliper & rotor on the back should make it handle much better now that they're both 17" wheels. I'm hoping for good traction w/ those Dunlop 207's.
 
Shaft drive

Yeah I have seen and felt the shaft drive under high power. Just heard that the shain drive is much more efficient thats all if I can gain that extra HP from reducing the paracitic drag, and all I have to do is maintain a chain that is worth it. I agree though for a streetbike the shaft drive is unbeatable. as for racing the switch would be worth it. Either way "Long, Low, Lean, and Long on power."

looking for mufflers

Hey everybody !

(so far, I understand that there are not much riders on that site, pity ). Excuse my very approximate american, I'm french and desesperately looking for mufflers for my ELI zl1000.87. In France, it's difficult to find because it's a very confidential bike (1000 in France they told me, 2 in my county) and I would like to know if there's a way to buy these parts.

You probly came to the right place BUBU. If somebody has some here they will let you know. I sold mine about a month ago and upgraded to Dale Walkers Holeshot exhaust. Are you wanting to stay original? I am only aware of two companies making aftermarket exhaust thos being Walker, I think that it is www.holeshot.com if I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me. And D&D which is a four into one system which in my opinion is not too appealing. Watch EBAY and you might find a set there. Glad to hear from a new poster. Hope to hear more from you.
