Good day everyone

Just wanted to say Happy New Year to everyone. Doing what the internet was intended for here. Giving advice and info on a particular interest.

Got a lot of info that has been productive. Given back what I could.

(Still offering free CD's for the ZL600 manual if anyone needs one)

Gotta replace the starter on mine. Got one just gotta get some time to put it in. Then rebuild the old one.

Anyway keep the Eli's running as best you can. And GET OUT THERE AND RIDE. :lol:

Too damn cold!!! I have 2 projects going, my eli and my venture, both are coming along very well. I wish i had some more cash!!!! Need to get the dynajet kit and the K&N's and the eli will be done.
 
I got my K&N jet kit off Ebay for 30 bucks.

I use Uni pods as they are washable like the K&N filters but Unilke K&N they are 14 bucks per POD.

They work well got the 4 inch long ones and they fit fine. They stay on at speed got them from Cycle Specialties on Harrison ave in Cincinnati.

All I need is to replace my starter. Was also gonna replace my pipe gaskets as I am gonna clean them up. Change all the fluids and should be ready to ride soon as it is warmer than 17 F

nice looking bike cheri, love the highway pegs, do they get in the way much when you are throwing the bike into a corner?

I see you've got the "Willie & Max Compact Slant" saddlebags, did the saddle bags fit up ok for you?

I've found that if you have the saddlebags on all the time, like me, the shocks start to wear through the bottom, front leading edge of the bag. I put a large, leather flap type patch over the wear spot to re-inforce that part before it totally rubbed through, as the leather can handle the wear better than the vinyl stuff they are made from.

I'm still working on the custom-made stainless steel saddlebag brackets for them, I've still got to find someone with a oxy set to make the bends in the right spots.

The mild steel ones I made up previously are still going very well, they haven't moved or bent out of shape yet, (the basic plans for my mild steel saddlebag brackets are shown in my gallery photos, along with pics of my service stand and it's construction plans).

Hey cheri, the bike is looking good! Those are the same bags that I want.
 
Hey guys...The bags I haven't noticed wearing through anywhere @ this point, but I guess I better watch eh? :scratch: They are Willie & Max slants. The pegs don't get in the way in the corners. I'd have to be pretty level w/the ground for that to happen, however you all I bet are just a tad more adventurous than I @ my age now...**sigh** :toothy8: I got the pegs, grips & mirrors all through J C Whitney on-line for $100 combined and couldn't be happier :cheers: I'm thinkin' now to remove the side covers expose the air filters and put on the "Pods". All N all, she don't look too bad for an '86 w/36,000 miles on her! Thanks guys! :puttside:
