What year is it?

Turns out the bike is not a 85/86. The papers that come with the bike don't have a production date and the only real numbers are on the motor: ZL900AE-007035. I still need a head for this bike if anyone knows where one is. I'm thinking the bike is a 93 model but not sure. Thanks for any help. SnakeDoctor
 
What year is it?

The ZL 900 Eliminators 1st year of production was '84 for the '85 model year & '85 for the '86 model year in the U.S. If you go to www.kawasaki.com you can see all years of production under parts & diagrams. The dealership can also help you decipher the VIN code on your bike. On your frame, the VIN should be 17 characters long after 1981. The 10th digit indicates the year of manufacture.

I contacted my local Kawasaki dealer & found out that this engine: ZL900AE-007035 came out of a 1986 ZL900 Eliminator VIN# JKAZL2A14GB504738 So there you have it
 
Water cooled

Fuelr, I don't think it's an 86 because this one is water cooled and I thought the 86 was air cooled. I will check the site you suggested and let you know. Hopefully any way it goes the bike will be here in Bangkok with me and I'll have the head for it and start to bring her back to life. Thanks, SnakeDoctor

As far as I know all of the Eliminators were liquid cooled. So I am not sure about your information. That was part of the reason that I wanted an Eliminator

U betcha! By the way, all Eliminators are water-cooled.
 
thanks Fuelr and Joker, I can line up that head now and get her back on the road. It'll be a lot more fun than this 400 honda steed my friend is letting me use now while I fix it for him. Of course, there aren't a lot of good roads here in Thailand to ride, at least at the speed this Eliminator will go. :lol: SnakeDoctor

I can see how that'd be hard, not havin a good long highway to ride on. Wherever you go tho, it'll be fast & in style...
 
Fuelr, Still gotta find that head first and the kit to do the job but it'll get done. Want to take it down to the frame to do a complete job and bring her back in style! IF you ever make it to Thailand, let me know, I know some inexpensive and safe places here. Gotta see these women!!! :twisted: I'm not leaving! :D

What year is it?

Seen way too many jungles for my liking, spent 10 yrs as an air commando in the Air Force. But it'd be nice to visit tho.
 
Fuelr, I didn't mean to go to the JUNGLES per say, I meant the Bangkok city jungle and see the WOMEN. For about 800 - 1000 Baht (20-25US) plus bar fine (400-600 Baht) it can be a full nights dream! :twisted: SnakeDoctor
 
Fuelr, just keep a cover on and the dirt can't get inside! :lol:
 
i have a 97 zl600 and would like a new style seat.....is there a seat that is compatible with my bike that that would change the looks? or a seat that i can fab with mine possibly? my seat is in great shape, just isnt very comfortable at long rides and i would like a new look. thanks
