New Guy rides again and beats a CBR

Well I took out my ZL600 again Saturday, it was 45 degrees when I left the house put 200 miles total on the bike after I was done.

It did get up to 65 or so, it was beautifully sunny, but cool and windy.

I did notice that even the "hog" riders were waving as I past, I guess the rice burners do get some respect now or maybe the Harley guys are getting soft.

I does corner well it has dunlops on it now, and it seems to stick in the corners, no shaking. Still got some touch up to do, to pretty it up, the edges of the tank, the pipes, the wheels could use a shine.

Gonna replace the plug wires as they are cracking. But the only ones I can find have resistor caps. The NGK D9EA's are non-resistor. And NO ONE caries wire kits for that, it is special order.

My local Honda/Yamaha dealer can get me the Pods and DynoJets if I purchase at the same time for about $75 less than any place I have seen so far. The Kaw dealer here is a joke.

I think I am hooked on the Eliminator. It is comfortable and fast if I need speed and people like the deep sound and the rumble. I jumped off from a light beating a kid on a CBR maybe it was just the rider. But the Eliminator in not really a slouch.

Mine's pretty simple, my initials, as seen on the photo of the rear of my bike that shows the bottom of my personalised plate, a present from my parents last year for my 21st birthday :D
 
Oh, and Bearkiller, ouch. Glad to see you came off better than the bear though.

Blagadain..... irish for "bald man".... there should be a "fada" over the i but I cant type it there.... pronounced - "Blag-adaaaaan"

I AM "follically challenged" and for last 5+ years, i've shaved my noggin with a "number 1" electric shaver. My friends have called me blag for that reason.... its better than being called dickhead, isnt it...? 5555555

I don't know, mine wasn't quite a bear, but a Peugout (sp?) 306's door at 35mph can hurt like hell, as shown in my photos :D

Hey ACP, what kind of tyre do you have on the rear of your ZL? I like the tread patterns.... How do u find the tyre... grip, wearing etc?

Yeah after the initial impact and as we started to travel over the bear it lifted about 750 lbs of motorcylce and two people off the ground! Bears are sure solid animals.
 
Pretty impressive bearstory! I came close to the same thing while travelling in northern wWisconsin on my Kawasaki Voyager back in '93. It was about 1:30am, I was trying to find a motel when a black bear showed up right in the center of my lane. I had to throw her sideways and stopped about 6 feet from the bear. Luckily, I managed to keep her upright and the Bear I believe was equally impressed because rather than eat me he just ambled off the road and into the forest! I found a hotel 15 min later, checked my boxers, totally amazed that they were not full!

My nickname comes from high school, everyone called me"Putt" due to last name of Putney. My closer friends would say to me "what up putt" hence the nick.
 
Mine's from going out and buying a brand new '01 dodge ram1500 quad cab truck after my divorce 7 years ago. Rammy1500.
 
Mines from catching snakes as a kid and friends gave me the nick. Funny I didn't get it until I went to Hawaii as they don't have snakes there. Kind of hard to be considered a snake Doctor as I tend to kill the poisonous ones now. I've got a skin from a five foot cobra in my freezer now. Looking for a couple of big ones for boots. Cobras do get to about 5 meters here in Thailand so will have to be a bit more careful with them. 55555555555555
 
Someone started calling me "Big Al", too many years ago to remember exactly when. I'm only about 5'9" on a good day but I did a lot of weight lifting when I was in my early 20's. Now I'm early 40's and I'm more beer gut than bicep.

LMAO! Too funny! I came within about 6 feet of another black bear while pig hunting a few years ago and even armed with a Springfield Armory M1A-A1 Bush Rifle in .308 I felt under gunned! Luckily the bear ran off tearing up the shrubbery instead of me!

Close as I can come to those "animal" stories is when I was younger I took out Elsie in a 84' Z28. Good topic on the nicknames though - I always wondered how people come up with them sometimes. Later.
